Itchies find Bonnie

When we got home from our vacation last week, we found that our Bonnie had done quite well with Tess, our sitter. Bonnie and Tess actually did not stay at our home but stayed with 2 other dogs (a Husky and an elderly Labby). Apparently one of Tess' dog sitter friends had been in a car accident and Tess filled in for her on her own pet sitting job and simply took Bonnie with her. Bonnie behaved beautifully, according to Tess, with not only the Husky and Labby but 2 resident kitties as well. What a shock! I was sure she would have tried to have them-the kitties=for lunch.

Anyway, about the itchies. Tess noticed Bonnie was limping one day and saw that she had a very sore paw. Tess took her to the vet and got some ointment and a lampshade. By the time we got home, the infection was pretty much done with but a week later, Bonnie continues to try to lick her paw and has extended her licking to all four feet if you don't watch her. She has been in the neck inner tube off and on pretty much since we got home. I don't see any redness. She doesn't seem itchy anywhere else. We even got a very limited amount of Tramadol for the itches. We also Frontlined her when we got home. I'm about at my wits end with this tongue on paws and back feet all the time. Hoping with cooler weather, the itchies say goodbye. Can't be grass initiated as we have no grass in our backyard. Hmmmmmm. At bedtime, poor Bon Bon gets the neck tube. Wonder if she could be suffering from a grass allergy a week later from where she was staying with Tess.

BTW, I'm still working on my back issue. Maybe I need a neck inner tube.

Try the Sardines for the itches & licking I'm trying them with Buddy it seems to be helping him as for your back have you tried an ice pack some times that will help.
Also I worked as a Nurses Aide on a orthopedic floor 14 years if you can have some one put a pillow to your back when laying on your side also put a pillow length wise between you legs. If you lay on your back and you do not have any blood clot issues you can put a pillow under you knees cross wise that will help relive pressure on your back. Try not to lay on your stomach that is not good for your back. I also speak from experience my last MRI showed the following sever spinal stenosis,bulging disks 2, herniated disk 1, dergentive disk disease in every disk, not a candidate for surgery.

Thank you, Papbouv, for your encouraging words. I'm thinking that once I'm strong enough, I'm going to buy a WII Fit and do some exercises that work on my core muscles. Hope Buddy is doing well now.

try bowen therapy, non invasive and your joints are not mamipulated. I have degenerated ncek discs and when they are bad I go and Isabel gets rid of the oweeies. I wastold by my rhuematologist when my neck /shoulders were bad to put a towel around my neck it gives it a little support and stops you moving suddenly, as it should not be completely immobile.

Thank you, Roberta. I will google Bowen Therapy. Glad it helped you so much. Today is a little better. Went to my Chiropractor yesterday and he worked certain areas of my back and got something to move. I'm just taking it real easy.

Bummer for the itchies and your back

We have had more itchies here than ever before...... wishing our Fall would get here and they would go away !

UPDATE! Itchies are subsiding a bit. The neck innertube has been put away. Just a little paw lickin' but much much better. My back? A little better. Still needs work.

Hope all the puppers and peeps in the HOT weather get relief soon.

Mommy's back------MUCH better

Bonnie's itchies----Better. Still a little chewing on the paws but she doesn't do it constantly like before. Bonnie flips an ear in greeting and wags her tail at handsome Mr. P. Pie.

I'm so glad to hear that!! Try rinsing Bonnie's paws in lukewarm water when she first comes inside. That has helped Porky tremendously with his itchy paws!!

Schatzi is suddenly itchy, too. I think it is partilly because I changed her food, and it has some grain in it. We always used grain-free when Mollly-angel was with us, but I didn't realize it bothered Schatzi, too. In the meantime, while waiting on it to get out of her system, I am going to try the sardines. My question-will they make her breath horrible? Murphy, her best buddy, really needs help for his itches, but his mom doesn't want stinky breath either. I think I can deal with it if I have too, if it gives her some relief,
