I was wondering if anyone had tried quercetin for their fur kids.  The lady at the natural foods store suggested I try it for Porky's allergies.  I had never heard of its usage in pets, but did some internet searching and found it can be used as a natural antihistamine. However, I couldn't find any info on dosage! Also has anyone tried this product? http://www.onlynaturalpet.com/products/Only-Natural-Pet-Aller-Free-7-Herbal-Formula/999187.aspx   I think it would be better for Porky's allergy issues.   Thanks in advance. I'm looking for an alternative to the Zyrtec that doesn't seem to be working for us anymore.  Poor little guy had such a bad night last night so I am going out to buy a warm mist humidifier and eucalyptus oil (to put in the humidifier).

Poor littlel guy I hate to think of him suffering with those darn allergies. I have not heard of either product, I tried all kinds of natural remedies for Hallie and my last 2 kids, in the past, I've never had any results with the natural stuff for anything really...so am not a big beleiver. But I do know a lot of people say it works for them. I hope you find something to help him, it sucks it's not seasonal so he can at least get a little break during the winter! What are his symptoms exactly?

How much exactly does Porky weigh ? There is a couple of people on Doberman Talk that use allot of holistic stuff I can ask them they will ask for his weight.
Right now allot of people are feeding Sardines packed in water for allergies they seem to have helped Buddy he has bald spots on one side only went to the vet they wanted to do all of the allergy testing and allergy shots I said no cost too much for a 90.6 # Doberman so we are doing the Sardines he has quit scratching I give him a sardine a day even give Patches a little part of one.
Will ask about the meds you have down & get back to you.

His symptoms are violent sneezing, reverse sneezing, wheezing, itchy ears, itchy skin, occassional hives (mostly in the summer, and if a food bothers him, he gets an upset tummy.  He also bites at his paws a lot and licks everything he can all the time!!  He knows he gets in trouble for the licking, so he has learned to do it at night when we are sleeping.  But, I'm a light sleeper so it wakes me up and I tell him to stop.  Poor guy can't get away with anything!!  We do steam sessions in the bathroom to help the wheezing when it gets really bad. I put a drop of eucalyptus oil on the tub floor, a drop of tea tree oil on top of that, and then turn the shower on really hot. Then Porky lays on the floor next to the tub.  We need to get a vaporizer that we can steam the eucalyptus oil in, but haven't been able to yet.  I am holding off on trying the natural medicines until I get the okay from our vet here and our Hollistic vet.  Our fall has been drier and more windy than last year so I think the dry air is irritating his sinuses as well.  He has battled a sinus infection off an on for a while.   He  only weighs about 11 pounds.  We want to avoid the prescription allergy medications from the doctor as long as we can so we are trying all our other options first.   Currently, Porky gets a bath once a week in a prescription Hydrocortisone shampoo and gets oatmeal conditioner.  We also have a bucket of water with mild shampoo mixed in it by the front door.  That way, we can quickly dip the paws to clean them after outside time.   There are days where caring for him is a full-time job!!  He is allergic to grasses, weeds, pollens, dust, mold, mildew, chicken, corn, and most dairy.  So the allergy issues persist through the whole year.  We did get some relief last year after the temperatures consistently stayed 20 degrees or colder everyday.

Thanks for the ideas and input!! I really appreciate it.
