It's official! He can start preventative on the 1st of November! He is now allowed to play for limited periods of time and he has finished all of his medications!
The entire Vets office was excited! Our vet picked Toby right up off the exam table and started dancing around the room with him!
Unfortunately, he has developed a fungus on his nose....his ammune system is down so who knows where that came from. Nothing to worry much about. I just have to shampoo his nose and put on the fungicide. He doesn't like it much and does the running, rolling, crazy dachsie thing when I put it on..... go figure, with everything he has been through this may be the thing he likes the least!
He has gained....ready for this? 2 pounds and 9 ounces in 2 weeks! He is THE MAN!

When I adopted the long haired one I got last year he was heart worm positive up until 2 weeks before I was to pick him up.

We are so happy you are HW negative - that is a huge accomplishment....and 2 1/2 lbs - WOW !!!!

Once you get rid of that darn fungus...then you can really start to enjoy your forever family and your forever home.........give your mommy a big slurpy kiss for hanging in there - we are all proud of her !!!!

Whew! I am so relieved and happy for you Toby. If you can just endure getting your nose shampooed for a little while, you will be done with all this torture you have been through and get to have fun and see what a normal life really is like. You already know how much you're loved, now you can start enjoying it!! Hang in there fella, its almost over! You have the best mamma ever!
