The green bean fairy will be visiting us as well.  Ozzy needs to lose some weight, too.

Danni, da snow is still too deep to run around!  BUT!  I did find a nice juicy dead critter under about 5" of snow.  Momma tossed it over the fence.  I was hungry. :-(

We feel for you ZuZu. Hallie has had many a bean in her life too. On the prescription food she's on now I am feeding her almost double of what I used to and I still struggle to keep enough weight on her. It's verrrry strange to suddenly have the opposite problem. We'll be rootin' for you and for your Mom cuz we know it's going to be hard on her too.

Exactly!  :thumb:

Most puppers will eat anything that isn't nailed down or painted grey, so hoomans have to feed them salad. In puppers' case, they LOVE green beans and will scarf them down. The pupper's tummy is full, the hooman isn't frantic that said pupper is being starved and the weight comes off.

Roscoe-Angel  :angel4: went from a blue whale @ 24 pounds to a svelte 14 pounds and he loved every bite! :ween:

Just be sure the beans are "no salt added".
There's nothing like having a dachshund tongue up your nose at 3 a.m.

And don't do like my cousin, who I told to substitute 1/4 of her grossly overweight dog's food with green beans...he wouldn't eat them so she put mayonnaise on them.  :thinik:

Penny has been on the green bean diet for a couple of months now. She needed to lose a few pounds and it worked quite well. I buy the big bad of frozen green beans at the grocery store and unfreeze a small baggie at a time as needed. She of course loves them and doesn't know she is on a diet  :thumb:

Is it 1/3 less kibble and about 1/4 cup pureed, no salt added green beans?  We may need a visit from said fairy, too, - our contractor says the furkids are a "bit pudgy"!  :verdict:  :eeew:  We did have squash, zucchini, and julienne carrots atop the kibble last night and tonight, and are not pleased to discover that our two bedtime biscuits have dwindled to one!

Regarding the contractor: Mom has a new front porch light fixture, as well as one for the side door on the garage, and the two back porchlight fixtures now match.  She had the backyard "Bastian-proofed" (we now have 6 foot long x 1 foot high redwood boards nailed horizontally end-to-end), so he can't get an edge to chew on or through!  Mom also got her wire-basket pull-out drawer installed in the pantry - box sat in the garage for about 2 years - and the lime tree was trimmed down to 10 feet - got rid of the huge growth of scraggly-looking 15 foot tall branches.

:2funny:  OMG, that is absolutely hilarious.  Kind of defeats the purpose.

Dee Dee and Hallie

Not only defeats it but makes it worse huh?  :verdict:

Here is the poor soul. Zuzu this might make you feel a little better (and thinner)!

What I did is got the canned green beans with no salt added. Replace 1/4 the amount of food you normally give him, with green beans until the weight comes off.

papbouv

No do not replace all the dog food with all green beans you will make your dog sick needs the dog food but not as much for a well balanced diet remove about a 1/4 of the dog food replace wth no salt green beans.

Gee cannot believe that poor Papillon the owner needs to be shot no excuse to let a little Papillon get that over weight sorry. Yes I'm over weight but I try to keep a handle on my pets weight exercise really helps too Buddy never over weight but have to fight to keep patches weight in line harder to do in winter time. I wish I could keep my scooter going all winter but can't have the batteries freeze.
Hope the Papillon is more back on track now.

SRSLY He is HUGE. His owners are killing him.

Popeye:  "I yam wot I yam."

Dee Dee and Hallie

I totally agree with you guys. They really are killing him, he's only 5 and has already torn his cruciates and has luxating patellas surgery on both back legs. He pants so loud all the time. She thinks it's because his hair is too thick... :dontknow: He's not losing any at all he keeps gaining all the time. She says she can't stand it when he sits by his bowl and looks at her. The dogs never eat treats she offers they are too full! The other papillon is overweight too just not quite as much as this guy. It drives me nuts I've done all I can to convince them how bad this is.

Anyway this is Zuzu's thread, didn't mean to hijack it, Hallie says if she needs a sponser she can call her anytime day or night if she feels herself slipping! :thumb:

DeeDee tell them I had a Papillon for 14 & 1/2 years always weighed 7-8 pounds I do not think they love their dogs very much to let an animal get that over weight since the dogs do not have thumbs its not like they feed their selfs the only way a dog can get fat is because their owners over feed them. Will enclose a picture of Gizmo you can show them what a Pap is suppose to look like, she was not a show dog she was a pet cause of death Alzheimers at 14 & 1/2 years old.Papbouv
Actually that Pap looks like they are in pain shame on them.Put the bowl up ? how about crateing the dog when they are eating ? there are ways they can do it.

We think thin is overrated!
Solomon used to LOVE LOVE LOVE zucchini.  Raw, just  peeled and diced into little cubes.  Thin that was second on his list after greenies.  and dingos.  and marrow bones......LOLOL- an
Kirby doesn't like food, and obviously only eats it to survive.  And so Max doesn't get it.  Max will eat anything - and he does like veggies - baby carrots are a good substitute for treats.
Spring is coming, its almost WALK time - then we will all thin out.   Hoomans included.  I hope.
