Zeke got to taste C-A-T...

...and it was hairy!

I take the Zs over to the vet to get their nails clipped.  It's worth it for me to shell out the money rather than fight them with the Dremel at home.  Our vets office has a couple of office cats.   Being around people's pets all the time, these cats have little fear.   Well, Zeke saw one and started going ballistic.  I held onto him.  Usually when Zeke tangles with a cat (or any other animal), it usually doesn't end well for Zeke.   One vet cat once used his telescoping forepaw to take a swipe at Zeke, cutting him on his snout.  At one point, the cat curled up directly underneath Zeke (I was holding Zeke on the bench).

When I handed Zeke over to the vet tech, Zeke saw his opening.  The vet tech was a bit lax with Zeke's lead as Zeke usually charges back to the examination room.   Zeke used the opportunity to lunge for the cat.  Mouth open and preparing for a nice cat snack, all Zeke managed to do was get a mouthful of cat fur.   We quickly separated the pair.   The cat used this opportunity to make a belated escape. 

Zora, meanwhile, found the cats more of a curiosity, but was so focused on trying to hide (if I can't see you than you must no longer exist) that she left Zeke to his own devices.

No cats were actually harmed (other than some pulled hair) during this story.

That is so funny when they do that If I don't see you,you are not there.During the Ice Storm we had a couple of years ago we had a mouse get in Patches crate. She use to act like she would be a mouser well she saw it one night nope I don't see no mouse.She had her nose up in the air with her head turned away from the mouse.
Gizmo my old Papilon would do the same thing.Funny little dogs sometimes.

Zeke and Bonnie would have a fine time going kitty cat hunting.  Bonnie hasn't ever got a c-a-t but I shutter to think.....

Zeke, yous gotta twy da C-A-T wrestling!!  Dat is WAY more fun and no one getsis hurt.  Me and my unka Spike lub doing dis.  I jump on him and nibble his ear (man dat makes him mad!!!)  den he'll chase me and pounce on me.     Da firstest time it was scawy, but now I know he's jus habing fun like me.     You should try dat its bedda getting a hairball stuck in your froat.

Porky, that sounds more like Zeke's speed.  Zeke tends to be all bark.  In fact, this is the first time he's sunk his teeth into anything (other than some very enthusiastic wrestling with Zora when he was much younger), so I'm kind of shocked by his behavior.   Zeke really is not particularly predatory, and more often than not ends up second best in a tangle.  Did I say that Zeke is all bark?...and when I say all bark, I mean ALL bark.  When his bark isn't enough to get one to back down (Zeke even backed Rudy-angel down), Zeke is better off making a run for it.

Fin Says: I bite da kitties ears and tail all da time! I dodge back an forth reeeally fast cuz sometimes she likes playin'... and sometimes she makes me yelp.


Fin has like four tiny white spots on his nose where she has scratched him on different occasions, and its weird because instead of just being a little scar or something, the hair has grown back white!

If you look at any of the pics of Zeke (or my Avatar), you'll see the same thing, except Zeke's white spots came from a tussle with Rudy-angel when Zeke was a puppy.  Once Zeke became a full-grown adult, he came back and turned the tables on Rudy-angel.
