I went to the Alaska State Fair yesterday.....

....I took yesterday off and went to the fair with my neighbor, Teri.  We were there for 8 hours and had a blast.  I entered fudge and Angel Kisses and the Angel Kisses won a Second Place ribbon.  I was happy because I won't be able to join in on the second entry for Baked Goods next week like I usually do.  And I've won ribbons every since 1992 and didn't want to break my streak.  I just can't go to the fair my usual three times this year due to needing to save my time off for the new house project.

I like to visit the booth of this one pottery vendor.  She uses the colors I like -- violet, blue, gray, turquoise.  I bought a real nice mug from her last year and wanted to get some more this year for the new house.  No two are alike.  They are usually $17 each, but yesterday I found three I liked in her "seconds" bin -- mugs with tiny flaws, and bought those for $8 each.  I felt like I got a real bargain. 

This morning the farrier came out and trimmed the horses feet.  Neeki and Patches were SO good, I almost thought they weren't feeling well.  Last time they were holy terrors.

I am just finishing up lunch and need to get back upstairs to my boxes.  I am making a real dent in all our stuff.  I've got a lot of it packed up for the move, and a lot more priced for a garage sale.  Throwing a lot out too.

Went over to the home site a little bit ago.  No one was around, I think they were  on lunch break, but there was a truck there, and lumber and a saw and tools.  They are getting something done today.  I took a bunch of pictures because once those guys are over there working, things progress rapidly.  They plan on getting the floor joists put in on the house, and do a little framing so they can backfill around the house.  Then they will switch over to the shop/barn and start framing it.  That building will get done first since we might have to move into it if/when our present home sells quickly.  Keep your fingers crossed!

Congrats on your ribbon.  I was sure that you would win some thing again this year.  I love those colors too.  Sounds really pretty.  I like pottery like that.  Sounds like the house is moving along.  So, how soon will it be before you can host an Alaskan Bow-wow?

Congrats on your ribbon and your house progress Patty. Three of my art pieces just won first in their category at our western washington fair and another three all made it into the state fair (that starts next month). Hallie was also invited to come and perform at our state fair on the 17th, she will be judged (in obedience) by all the 4-H'ers who made it to state. Between that and horse shows and dog shows and stuff this is a busy time of year. I can guarantee if I entered a baked good at ANY fair there would be no ribbons won unless they have a "please do not enter next year" ribbon...

Way to go Patty on your ribbon !!!!  Sounds like you found some great stuff for the new house too !!!  You go girl cleaning out your stuff......I would be so scared to have to pack to move - way too much STUFF !!!!
