Ivan feeling poorly

Hi,

Ivan was due for his annual checkup today, but he had other ideas. He started having trouble walking last night, and this morning wasn't any better. He is not down. He can stand and walk, but he is very slow and it appears to pain him.

Took him to the vet and he was shaking and had a temp of 104.5. Doc thinks it may be something in the back -- we didn't do X-rays, but he prescribed diazepam and a course of prednisone, plus an antibiotic.

Ivan is 16 and could use some rays, please.

Thank you for the rayz. Ivan doesn't seem to be in any pain today, though I don't see much improvement in his mobility. He can get around -- he wants to follow me -- but it is an effort. One pitiful thing is watching him try to get into his favorite snuggle bags. Usually, he can just nudge his head inside and scoot to the back. Well, he can't scoot anymore, so he just sort of lays at the mouth of the snuggle back with half his body hanging out of the bed. ... He still has the same doxie appetite, though.

Tests came back that showed Ivan is anemic and has a urinary tract infection. Will have to manage that and then get a recheck. He looked so lethargic today, but some of that was probably due to the meds.

Max is sending mega rays to his fellow senior Ivan.    Ivan is kind of like Max in the way both seem to have this "quiet toughness" about them.   I'm sure Ivan will be just fine once the infection clears up.

Awwww poor Ivan - sending rays that the meds make him feel better quickly.  Glad they were able to pinpoint and get him on meds right away - keep us posted !!!  Ivan - sweet boy - here is to you very quickly being able to get into your favorite bed !

My senior boy Ivan is doing a lot better. When I got home from work last
night, he TROTTED to the front door to go out. Today he spotted a lizard to
pounce on.
He is much steadier on his feet, so I'm hopeful this episode is something
that will pass. We go back for a recheck of the vitals next week.
