Hello everyone,

My name is Georgia (username edelweiss).  It's my favorite austrian "flower"
I recently posted info about my little pup's black widow bite, but am just now figuring out how to use this site.  Fun!  My husband and I have three babes we call "poos" for obvious reasons.  Weazelle is 3, (we call her smelly, zelly, and a million other branched off names)  Beaureguard (Bo Bo) is 2 years, 11 months, and little baby Mr. Mauser, (Mr. "M") is 11 months.

Weazelle and Beau are 12 lbs, so tweeners?  Mr. M is 8.5 so mini?  All three are short hair smooth, double dapple.  Except Mr. M, he's more plain red with one blue eye.  I love it!

Those two boys of mine are big time momma's boys too.  The female loves her Daddy, and waits for him all day to come home.  She won't come out of her shy shell until she sees him.  Then it's ballie time!  He also found this great toy.  It's a beaver hand pupet, so when they attack it they can feel little bones inside it like it's real.  They go crazy!Poor Joe, his hand usually pays the price with a few battle scars. :2funny:  Glad to find a great place to go on about my treasured "poos."
Wiener people are wierd aren't we!
There's nothing that stinks so sweet as that musty, hot Dachshund smell!

Hi Georgia,

My name is Marcia and live in MI.  I am owned by two tweenie boy dachsies Sam, who is 13 and a smooth red.  Then there is Eddie a lh black and tan.  Both of my boys are rescues and are also momma's boys.  I love to have the boys to snuggle with, but they can be a handful when it's playtime.  Sam has a blue ball that he is absolutely obsesive with - if he wants to play ball you better or he will keep rolling the ball to you until you pay attention to him.

You will love this place.  I have been part if this "family" for about 8 years and these people are one of a kind.  We help each other, rejoice with each other and grieve with each other.   Your babies are really cute and how is the one that was bit by the spider?

Krista

Welcome aboard Georgia!

Your doglets are cuties - all appear to be "single" dapples to me though.  Double dapples usually have a lot of white on them.  (Double dapples can only be born from two dapple parents - and they are at higher risk for certain eye and hearing defects.)

Also if a dachshund has a blue eye(s) or partial blue eyes, the dachshund is a dapple, even if they don't appear to be spotted to the naked eye.  Wall eyes (blue eyes) are a product of the dapple gene in dachshunds - though not all dapples have blue eyes.  The blue eyes occur when the dappling falls on the eye.

one of my babies is a Chocolate and tan dapple.  Here she is:

:hello2: Hi Georgia!!  I am so glad Mr. Mauser is better.  He is so cute!!!  I love all of your babies.  Thank you so much for sharing the pictures with us.  I hope to get my pics soon.  What a wonderful family!  I am glad I am not the only one who gives out alias names to her babies. HAHA  Bev

Thanks for the help with the dapple thing.  Their papers Do say dapple, not double dapple.  I'm not sure where I picked that up, but I'm learning.  Good to know about the dapple thing and the blue eye.  (Wall eye?)  Everyone always asks me how that happens and I just thought plain genetics.  Weird that it's actually a dapple on the eye?!  Awesome.  Mr M. is a dapple, your right.  His spots are just so extremely hidden that he looks plain red.  He has a few on his back and that's about it.  Guess they all when into making that pretty eye!

That's funny that someone else's pup is so obsessive over their ball too.  My female will roll it over to me and bark if I don't throw it. :2funny: Sometimes I feel like this though.... :BangHead:  It never ends.  If you don't throw it, she'll push it into your hand with her nose. :idiot:  I call her my little psycho because she barks all crazy until she gets what she wants.  Then she growls like she'll kill any of the other pups that come near her.

update:  Mr Mauser is back to his cute little self after the spider bite, and only has a small little red mark on his "beak."  Needless to say I follow him around and watch him like a mama hawk when he goes outside.  Guess it will take a while before I'm not afraid anymore.

Hi Georgia !
Your female sounds just like my boy Rudy.  He is obsessed with toys !!!!  He loves to chase them down the hall and he will bring the toy to you and throw it at your feet......and knowing that you don't see it (HA!) he will bark to tell you it is there !!!!  He will chase until he is exhausted, but I make him stop when he starts panting.  I tell him to take a break and he will...for a short time anyway !!!

Welcome and glad your Mr. M is doing ok because of the spider bite - that is a scare !
