I know this is going to sound crazy, but I have had Minna for about a month now and still have not told her Grandparents that they have another Granddog.  Now, I am a grown woman (almost the big 50) and my parents still treat me like a 5 year old.  If I had told them on the phone, they would have ranted and raved about how "you do not need another dog" and "what are you thinking".  Don't get me wrong, my folks love my furkids.  My mom buys them Christmas presents, talks to them on the phone (believe it or not) and thinks they are totally adorable.  And with Max, Lily and Gabbe (espescially Lily), well they think their Grandpa hung the moon.  When I got Gabbe they had a fit.  Now they love her and can't imagine me not having her.  They are coming to visit tomorrow to attend my aunt and uncle's 50th wedding anniversary party.  I figure that the concept of another dog is harder for them to grasp then the reality.  Like I said, they were unhappy when I told them I got Gabbe, but once they met her, they loved her.  I am hoping this will be the case with Minna.  I know it is none of their business if I have 4 or 40 dachsunds, I just don't want to deal with them harping about it.  So, tomorrow will be the big day when they get to meet Minna.  She is such a sweetie, I know they are going to love her.  I just hate having (at my age) justify my actions to my parents.  They should realize by now that I am going to do what I want to do with or without their approval.  Again, I just don't want to hear about it.  LOL!

Good Luck Nikki i am sure your parents will love Minnna!! I can totally understand... you can imagine the look i got  when i told my grandmother i had added #6! I could see the color run from her face!!  :icon_pale:  She loves the dogs but she will probably never understand why i can't just be happy with 1 or 2 but she is very supportive of the fact it is what i want whether she understands it or not  :2funny:

Good luck Nikki. I'm sure they will love her too. I was very lucky, my Dad always supported me in whatever I decided, even if it was wrong.

My SIL can be like that towards me with my dogs sometimes though she loves them.

I remember when we adopted Gwen.  I was so busy (tax season) that I hadn't told her or my brother that we had another dog.  It was about a week or two after we got Gwennie that SIL announced they were pregnant with their third child.  She smirked and asked me "So are you going to get a third dog now to keep up"  - I then said, "Oh we already have a third, I guess it is you who is keeping up with me now."  LOL....

Good Luck Nikki.  Once they cuddle her, perhaps they will forget to say less than positive things.

From your lips to God's ear!  I am hoping that they will just think she is a doll and not have any negative things to say. Oh, well, I can dream can't I?

Your parents won't be able to resist her! I'm sure you're worrying for nothing.

HA !   You are always their kid......I know how you feel - although both my parents are gone now, there were many times that I sweated telling them stuff.....just because they still thought they knew best !!!!!   I know your parents will love their new furgrand kid......how could they not ?  She is adorable !!!!  But be prepared to "hear about it" before they decide to fawn over her like the others - HA!!!!!  Let us know how it goes....and breath a big sigh when they go get in their car !!!!
