It only took her nine years to learn...

It has been an incredibly busy few weeks around here. Meg moved back to Greenville and into our house two weeks ago. Schatzi is happy to have another person to snuggle with and beg for treats from. It is an adjustment for all of us, but we are loving it, and she plans to have her own place once she knows where she wants to live,
We have also finally started construction on the addition for Randy's dad so he can move in with us in a couple of months. The day they were supposed to start grading the area they were building on, it starting raining and rained for four days straight! We started out four days behind, but at least the weather is looking better now for the next few weeks.
Due to construction, Schatzi no longer has a fenced in yard right now, and no use of the doggie door. She is having to learn to let us know when she needs to go out. I debated on whether to put down pads for her to use, but decided to take my chances. We have all been dedicated to taking her out regularly, and, in 10 days, there has been only 2 poops in the house and zero pees! The best part is she will now go to her doggie door and bark if she needs to go out, we only laugh because we take her out the front door, but she barks at the one SHE usually uses. She is a little bit of a slow learner, but she is FINALLY getting it. Now, I just hope she doesn't decide to pee all over the place since I wrote this tonight!

I had to laugh this morning when I found one small spot of pee in the hallway. Schatzi will say it is Randy's fault since he went to work at the fire department and didn't take her out before he left (but most likely woke her up). We are still working on teaching him the rules around here!

Marcia from MI

Took Danni 3 years to learn to let me know she wants to go out.  During the summer there is no problem as she loves to be outside, up until this year she and winter were not friends.  Now she loves to be outside and will let me know when she has to go out even when it is horribly cold.  I try to call her in, but it's like she doesn't care about the cold, while mama panics if she is out too long.

Good girl, Schatzi!  You know it's not a good thing to poop inside.  Paws up to you.  Since we've gotten laminate, with the exception of the first week or so where we had "accidents", Bonnie has been very consistent with her wanting out when it's that time.  She's never been one to go to the door and whine but she will give this L@@K and kind of tilt her head towards the door and then scamper down the hallway.  Of course she expects to be rewarded for a job well done.  We're glad Schatzi has her human sissy home to continue on the tradition of spoiling.
