Sad News

[Kari]

Drew and I went for our sonogram yesterday, and unfortunately they couldn't find a fetal heartbeat. We went to a separate location to have another sonogram with a more advanced machine just to make sure and the results were the same. They are doing some bloodwork right now, and I will be having a D&C on Monday or Tuesday. We are both so sad...it just broke our hearts. This is the second time this has happened. Any thoughts and rays you could send our way would be appreciated.

I am so sorry!! I can feel your pain. Are you taking folic acid? It is suppose to help prevent miscarriages. If your not taking it now, ask your doctor about it. They sell it at walmart. Start taking it now and the next time you get pregnant, it may be a success.

I'm sure Kari was taking prenatal vitamins or an alternative supplement approved by her doctor containing folic acid.

It seems that a lot of people don't realize how often miscarriages occur. Of all confirmed pregnancies, 15 - 20% will actually end in a miscarriage.  Even more pregnancies end before the woman even knew she was pregnant.    Out of every 4 women who experience pregnancy, 1 will face a miscarriage in her lifetime.

Miscarriages are extremely sad and even traumatic events.  Knowing they are common does not make the pain any less, it just lets women know they are not alone. 

Kari, I am deeply sorry for your loss and am praying for you.
