OK so the last few weeks I've started re-teaching Hallie to paint again so she can do her paintings she sells for rescue. She hadn't missed a beat, I hand her the brush, she takes it and I tap the paper so she knows where it is and she touches brush to paper. Just now we were practicing and I thought, I wonder if she can learn to take the brush from the cup again, instead of my hand. So I put it in the cup, asked her to "take it", and she reached down and grabbed it up! I was floored.

I'm so stoked, we did it about 10 times and had a dance party and treats after each time. How does she do that?? What a good girl. She was so cute the first couple of times she leaned over, put the brush in her mouth and then just froze like that.

I only had to tell her "up" once and she lifted her head with the brush each time and waited for me to tap the paper for her. She keeps surprising me all the time. Whoo!! :thumb: :thumb: :thumb:

She also still loves to pose and dress up.

Aww, what a good girl. See, Hallie just goes to prove how easily dogs adjust to a new circumstance. She's a smart girl, and she has you, and as long as you're around, she'll always be happy and secure.

Can't keep a good Doxie down yeah Miss Hallie she was wondering how come Mom had not set her up to paint since Mom paints she does not want to be left out.

It is so extra sweet to see her happy and silly I really didn't think either of us would ever be happy again! Also I think she's ready to try for her ORT (odor recognition test...nosework) title so just entered her for December 9th. You aren't always guaranteed a spot if there are too many dogs but we're hoping we are in. She's been through 2 classes now and starts level 3 class on the 21st. Here are a couple of pics of her paintings and painting (this was in February last year, she went blind in April).

I just realized there is a red tulip in "Candy Store" like her blue tulip! We should have titled it red tulip that must be her signature brush stroke. :thumb:

Just make sure you make time to be able to do things you both enjoy time is always short so have to do things in the now.Good Luck selling your work for all the puppers in need.
