She requested triceritops (sp!) this year.   :thumb: It actually doubles as a head bumper for her around chair legs, etc although we're working on a better idea for protecting the little Princess head from conks.

The background is a spot in the woods we like, so real thing not a set this time. The baby triceritops is of course, real.

Delia and girls

Between you and your mom, I'm not sure who is more amazing!

Teresa

What a great spot for a photo. The model is really, really, cute and Schatzi always says Treat or Treat. It doesn't any have to be anytime close to Halloween!
I'm already looking forward to the Christmas pictures this year!!

Delia, between Hallie and I only one of us is amazing and it tain't I. LOL!

Teresa I would love to paint some wild critter on this background but it looks too perfect people wouldn't believe it. It really was like that though no photoshopping other than the witch, bat and jackolantern in the rocks. :)
We've been working hard on her Christmas card pics, just waiting for 2 more props to get here from Hong Kong.  :thumb:

Great picture she does indeed look scary & beautiful at the same time.
About a 100 years ago it seems, I read an article in Dog Fancy or Dog World about dogs that were blind someone used something like glasses put pipe cleaners on the top and sides so when the dog ran into something the pipe cleaner hit first and the dog soon learned the slightest touch would let the dog know something was ahead.I'm sure they have came up with something better by now maybe.

Dee Dee and Hallie

I haven't seen the pipe cleaner one but that is a great idea! I had thought of that once but wondered if the wire them could poke her somehow, but if others have used it I'm sure not, so I'll put on my thinking cap again with those. I've seen people use those long plastic pull tabs thingies on their collar and those stick out and touch things. The pipe cleaners would be better though becuase you could bend them different directions. Thanks for bringing that up! I have been searching and searching but not finding much for blind dogs that I like, either too hard and uncomfortable or too cumbersome. I'll have to look for some pink pipe cleaners.  :thumb:

How about plastic straws they would be longer ? Did Hallie like to wear her goggles ? I'm sure they have Pink Duck tape now days I have some that is lavender. Then of course if it would not make it too heavy you could always wrap satin Pink ribbon around it ? Just kicking ideas around.???

Dee Dee and Hallie

Those are all good ideas. I have ordered a couple (four) different styles of hats we were going to try padding for her, if they are comfy and she doesnt' mind them, great, but if not then I'll definitely try some of these ideas. She usually doesn't have too much of a problem running into anything big like a wall or a fence, etc, her problem is mainly with things like chair legs, table legs, pole sticking out of the ground, etc, skinnier things she will turn her head and CONK right on the eye socket. I hate it when that happens. So normally she doesn't really need long feelers too much, and very rarely at home, it's usually in a place she doesn't know with odd things to run into. (that's why in the nosework video I was trying to move/block the chair so she wouldn't go conky on the legs).

She didn't really like wearing her goggles she was very tolerant of them and kept them on when I had her wear them in the sun for her iris atrophy, but I think they became uncomfortable after a while. Plus they are hard so if she hit the goggle, it wouldn't buffer much.

Thanks for brainstorming Papbouv these are great! (i did find her some pink pipe cleaners on line but shipping was too high so will look for some local)

Go on Facebook to "Cuddles fur-ever home page" and ask about the halo they have for their one blind dachshund. They use it when he or she is outside in Frankie's kingdom. (Frankie is their tortoise!)

BTW, Cuddles' life story is amazing! he was brought back from the worst skin I have ever seen to a beautiful piebald happy dachshund! What heroines she and her hooman both are!!

I'm doing much better with dachshunds and rabbits."

Oh bless little Cuddles! Hate to hear of other babies who have lost their sight. They really do amazing but it still sucks big time, every day is so much harder. I actually had ordered a Halo (although Hallie already has her own heh)  :angel4: when she first went blind, and when her turn came in the que for the lady to make it for her, she emailed first to see if we still needed it. A lot of people must change their mind because sure enough she was doing well enough that at that point I think it would have been more of a hindrence than a help. She really only needs a bumper maybe 5% of the time when we're away from home. But the halo harness is a great idea and I have read testimonies of dogs that do great with theirs.

Hallie is very proud today she won 2nd place in the Alpha Pet Halloween costume contest in the "scariest dog" category with her triceratops costume. She's never been scary before so she's trying to embody her new image, but isn't quite sure what to do with it.  Best of all she gets a certificate to spend in the store, there will be no living with her now!
