Jeri

Hi everyone,

Just wanted to drop in and update you on our sweet little boy's recovery.

The weekend was a little rough, but not terrible.  Poldie was tired and wobbly, and did not eat well.  A few people suggested adding a bit of meat to his food, but the hamburger we added did little to encourage him.  Someone suggested that I heat his food just a little bit to release the aroma, and that would entice him to eat. So I heated his kibble and burger, and he started eating!  Small meals at first, but last night he licked his bowl clean!

In fact yesterday was a big day for Leopold.  We can tell that he is feeling better because he has regained the sass and spark that we love, and that has been missing for so long.

We were putting the dogs in their room yesterday so we could leave for work.  I was passing out their morning treat when Poldie made a break for it and trotted down the hall and made Kevin chase him around the house.  It's been forever since he has done this and it used to irritate Kevin, but yesterday he was so happy to chase him!  It's so typical of the behavior that has always made him such a lovable little jerk.

Last night when I got home I let them out of their room, and guess who led the charge down the hall?  Leopold!

Then this morning Kevin put Poldie and his food in the bedroom and closed the door so he could eat as I get ready for work.  You see Skeeter and Boone inhale their food and then hover around Poldie, who eats one kibble at a time.  Since Poldie cannot enjoy a leisurely meal with the Hoover twins hovering, he gets frustrated and stops eating.  A private dining room (my bedroom) allows him to dine in style.  So I turn off my blowdryer and hear Poldie eating.  He even sounds a little bit greedy!  I decided that I would check on him as soon as I put my blowdryer away, but before I get the chance King Leopold appears in the bathroom doorway and huffs at me!  Sure enough, he had eaten his food and wanted to rejoin the rest of the family.  Huffing and barking at us are his way of ordering us around, and he has not been very demanding lately.  I was so happy to resume my servant role.

Please keep the rays and prayer coming that his cancer has not spread.  But whatever the pathology report says, Poldie is feeling good now, and that alone has made the amputation worthwhile.

That's great news!   Then again, it's not completely unexpected.  It's typical Poldie.  I don't know where he gets it from, but Poldie absolutely refuses to be counted out, even when the odds appear to be stacked completely against him.   We're hoping and praying that pathology report is negative.

This is great news!!!  It's wonderful when they get their personalities back.  Hugs and pets from the Colorado 4-Pack.

Dee Dee, he had cancer in his leg and it had to be amputated to save him.  The pathology report is supposed to tell what kind it was and if it had spread or was just in the leg.

Jeri, any news from the Pathologist?  We're waiting in KY for the good news I know is there!

It is so great to hear that Leopold is almost back to his old self.  It made me cry, justing thinking about his spirit and never quit attitude.  We all could learn a lesson from Leopold.

Continued rays and prayers from Iowa that the pathology report brings good news.
