Hi everybody.  A neat thing happened, we have a resident Raven.  It showed up here the day my mom died.  And he or she is still here.  It can fly, but prefers to walk.  It likes to eat the leftover grain in Neeki's manger, and will eat fish scraps we leave out.  Ravens are very magical in Alaska Native forklore.  He, or she, is such a big and beautiful bird, so black.  Our cat, Pepper, won't mess with it at all, Pepper would probably lose, even though she is a big cat.  We have called Fish and Game, inquiring about the habits of Ravens, but really don't have a clue why he has chosen our place as his home for the past three month.  He calls out often......CAW!  CAW!  Its really special.

Hi Patty!  So good to hear from you.  Your Raven sounds NEAT!

So Kewl! I love them but have only seen them once high in the mountains where two were flying and playing games--magical.

Late this spring a group of crows moved into the area: momma crow was showing them where the mulberries were.  Since Loki was named after the trickster raven/crow, when we buried her, I put a crow feather with her to speed her way.  The crows have not left and still caw and talk and grumble.  No doubt in my mind that this is smart and magical bird family.  I too, am putting out special scraps on the compost pile.

Hope he stays and raises his (her?) family.
