[Delia and girls]

4 in the morning (Elli is sleeping in since Cyrus arrived!) - letting the dogs out to potty - still dark - Gretchen runs to the base of the shed. I hear an 'eeck' and look over to see her shaking something that is continuing to scream!!! Elli freaks and runs in the house with me as I'm screaming Gretchen's name, knowing she won't come. Cyrus is still in the house, wondering why we're up when it's still dark.  I go flying into the bedroom where Ron is just realizing something is wrong. "Gretchen's got a rat!" He goes flying out the back door as she slinks by him and under the bed. Does she still have the rat? FINALLY get her out from under the bed - no rat. At daylight, rat is found by the shed - eye punched out and probably neck broken. Anyone need a rat zapper? She works for food!

Wow!!  Porky hasn't gotten any rats, but he is a good mouser and loves chasing the sand pipers when we are out walking.    He has tried to go for snakes before too, but for obvious reasons, He gets scolded for that.  We have seen 3 rattlesnakes right up in the yard this year!!    :crazyeyes:

Can Gretchen teach Patches how to kill Rats,mice (last winter what we guess it was a rat chew though my dishwasher hose, then a month later CHEWED though the Stainless Steel hose to my dishwasher then ate a half of loaf of new bread bought that day). Then it chew on the refrigerator electrical wire to the point of no power to the refrigerator. Very expensive winter we have the Cement Yard behind us so we get all kinds of nice little critters hey day for the little beasts.Think since patches heard a rodent chewed though stainless steal she wants no part of it can't blame her maybe need a Rat terrier or Min Pin ? OMG that brings back memories of my Simon-Angel....armadillo chaser and mouser extraordinaire. Any dog that will hunt down and kill mouse or rat is Top Dog in my book.

AWESOME...............what did it taste like................we gets but not allowed to keep rabbits.................mumz are so borrrrrrrrring but if only we could work a video we'd make a fortune.

Gretchen says thanks for all the compliments. This girl absolutely LIVES to hunt! When we're at earthdog and field trials, she's on pins and needles, waiting for her turn. And when it's over, you can see it on her face ... "AGAIN!!!"

Good girl Gretch! She really is a great huntin' dawg. How can 2 dogs that look so much alike be so different. LOL. Hallie would beat you back to the house yelling "RAT!!!!!!!!!"
