Penny was taken to the vet on Thursday, she was not being very active and she was not being herself.
They kept her there to run tests and x-rays. After taking the tests and x-rays they said she had fluid on her left back knee.  The tested the fluid for Lymes Diease or Autioimmune disease....

Well the test came back positve for Lymes.... Which I really do not understand, because she barely goes outside and I live in a busy Queens, NY neighborhood.   I had to take her back to the vet for more blood to test for the A.D.  Which I am still waiting to hear about.

They started her on the antibiotics for 3 weeks for the lymes.....

HELP DOES THIS MAKE SENSE?????

At first I was scratching my head when I read it, but then when I began to write my reply I recalled an Animal precinct episode where the NYC animal cruelty cops found a German shepherd that was so tick infested that he was literally being drained of his life.  I think they  removed a couple hundred ticks, so apparently a lot of ticks can be found in Gotham.  Doubtful that many people realize it, but they are there.

Poor little Penny.  Rays and prayers coming from our crew.  Are antibiotics the only treatment necessary?  Is she expected to make a complete recovery?  I don't know much about Lyme, only that it is common in our area so I get my dogs vaccinated each spring.  I don't want any first hand knowledge, and I am so sorry that you and Penny are getting it now.

I'm so sorry to hear that Penny is not feeling good.  I hope the antibiotics do the trick and she feels much better in a short few weeks.  I don't have any experience with Lyme Disease, so I can't really answer your questions.  Hopefully someone else here has read up on it and can tell you more.

Rays to Penny and Lori!

Lots of rays headed to you from MT.  I don't know much about Lymes either, but I do know from living in the boonies, that it's not unbeatable.

Oh no !  Sending Penny Lane many rays.   I don't know much about Lyme - sorry - wonder if it can be transmitted any other way than ticks?  Might want to check with other pet owners in your building or area and see if any one else has spotted any.  Keep us posted and smoochies to that sweet baby girl.

I know I was shocked too....  I didn't know what they were going to tell me to tell you the truth.  I knew it couldn't be her back again, because it was different from the last time she wasn't normal.

The said at the vet, that it was treatable, and that she will be on the meds for 3 full weeks.
So I am hoping at the end of the 3 weeks she will be all better, if not we will do whatever it takes for her to be ok.

THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR THE RAYS....

Lori R.

thank you for your rays...

I do not know much about it either.  I do know if it is treated within the first week it should be taken care of....  Which we have done!

Lori R.

Thank you so much for your rays... We need them!

That is crazy!!! Poor Penny just can't get a break. I remember that episode too Jeri, I was surprised there can be so many ticks on concrete! Figure the buggers would all be in the woods or grass. Ack. Rays to Penny Lane for a speedy and full recovery!
