Introducing our new boy, Cyrus.

For those of you not my 'friend' on Facebook, I'd like to introduce Cyrus, our new boy. He is a rescue from the DFW Dachshund Rescue. They said he's about 3 but I think he's closer to about a year and a half. I did not want to add a third but Elli really wanted someone to play with. She and Cyrus wear each other out. He is such a good boy. He NEVER had an accident in the house. And that includes the 3 days, or so, that he had diarrhea. We have a doggie door, but still ... I was soooooo impressed with his pottying outside.

The story is that he followed a little boy home from school and the little boy's mother called rescue. The lady that runs rescue told her she was going out of town so would be by for him Monday. The mom said she didn't think the dog would live that long. Poor Cyrus was 6 and a half pounds (should be 12 to 14 - now at 11.7), covered in fleas and ticks, anemic (from the fleas and ticks) and so weak he couldn't walk. But he was still giving kisses and wagging his tail. Needless to say, the rescue lady picked him up and took him to the vet, where he spent the next 2 weeks. His coat is coming in so shiney (sp?). Here he is!!!

He is GORGEOUS --- excuse me, Cyrus, I guess I should say ONE HANDSOME DUDE!!! Congratulations, Delia et al, on this wonderful addition to the family!!!!! :hello2: :hello2:

And Cyrus, you have been blessed more than you even realize yet to land in such a wonderful home, though I know you already know that you are loved unconditionally!!! I'm so happy for all of you!!! :heart:

I agree, the smile says it all!! "Eli needed a playmate" sounds like a great excuse to me for getting another doxie! Congratulations!

Congratulations he is really cute,glad rescue was able to go get him right away looking good bet he thinks he is in heaven having a play mate ,food , bathed and no more fleas & ticks and lots of loven. Give him an extra pat from us Patches,Buddy & papbouv

Congratulations Delia, that´s terrific news. It´s awful Cyrus had such a rotten start in life but he will be in clover with you guys now. He is sooo cute and really does look like he´s smiling ¡Felicidades!

I agree wholeheartedly, Barb!! Cyrus (I love the name!!) reminds me SO much of my Zana-angel that my heart melted instantly!

I agree too with Delia that I don't think he's as much as 3 years old. Even allowing for his rough start, I think his facial structure would be more "adult" if he were 3. He is so adorable I just want to grab him through the screen to hug and kiss him!

In agreement yet again on wanting to kick some people!

There are too many people out there who should never be allowed under any circumstances to have a dog! I honestly have a hard time understanding anyone who can be cruel to an animal or abandon one. I'd better stop; I can be on this particular soapbox for a long time..............

Glad to hear he is keeping Eli amused, she will soon have him in line. Runny games are better played in pairs. He is gorgious and what a face. Some people should be put up against a wall and shot...............kids and animals are sacred they depend on others to keep them safe.
