The Spilker Boys

[Dee Dee and Hallie]

I finally got Dee and Dave's portrait of the boys done (Sarge, Looie and Duggie) last night. I think I've put more hours per square inch into this painting than usual, they were so much fun to paint I call them the Rainbow Doxies with all their neat colors and patterns (too bad it was too late to add Earl in there, he'd add to the color palette!). This is 16 x 20 acrylic on board, now to ship it and white knuckle it until it gets to Greenacres safely.  :thumb:

The more I look at them, the more detail I see. I just can't get over the fur on them. Those colors! It looks as if I could feel each tiny hair on their bodies. I keep wanting to open this thread, just to see them. Can't wait to show Randy when he gets home!

The painting arrived today and in person, it is truly stunning and awesome.  Looking at it in person, the work of DeeDee brought tears to my eyes and I was speechless.   It is so beautiful and my boys will be cherished forever in DeeDee's work.  Dee

I was relieved to hear it got there safely, can you imagine after all this, if it had been lost!  I am so glad you and Dave are happy with it, couldn't go wrong with those handsome models!

Thanks so much for all of the nice comments like I said though, it is the models that make the painting and I was happy to be able to work on doxies for once!  :thumb:

It doesn't matter how many examples of Dee's work that I see, I am still in awe each time over the incredible amount of detail and life in each one.  I almost can touch Duggie's nose and feel the little wrinkles in it.  And Looie's eyes are beautiful.  Their essences have been immortalized in this work.  Dee, you are so talented.  I would love to have one of my babies.  Maybe one of these days!
