Julie

I was sitting in the recliner with the leg part up but on the low side.  Tiff tried to jump up on it and missed.  As I went to pick her up she jumped again and hurt her lower back.  It was horrible.  She was crying in pain and Koby, Sgt & Libby kept trying to get to her.  I got her into the kitchen and put the baby gate up so the others couldn't get in.  She was limping on the left back leg and it looks like her muscle is "rippled" up on the back near her tail.  Koby had a fit when I tried to take her out of the house and blocked the door.  I am glad my daughter was there, because I didn't want to put Tiff down to move Koby.  I rushed her to the vets and they checked her out good.  They said it looks like a soft muscle pull and gave her a shot of steroids with some sort of muscle relaxer in it.  The vet said to keep her calm tonight and if she is still acting like she is in pain tomorrow, to bring her back and they will put her on more medicine.  She has been in her crate since she came home, snoozing away.  We just carried her outside and she had no problem squatting to go potty.  Now she is snuggled up on Eric's lap watching TV with him.  I think she is going to be ok, but she sure gave me a scare!

Well, my  was in my throat at the beginning, but reading to the end was better.  Sending  :bandaid:  and rays for her to be better soon!  How sweet to read the reactions of the other three!  I am sure she is enjoying her "snuggling with foster dad" time!

Good grief, your post scared me to death!  Sure glad she's feelin' better.  Koby sure is protective of his sissy, huh?  Sending a few extra    and   to Tiffy tonight.

Wow, that was scary I'm glad you got her to the vets right away.  Be sure to limit her activities and I hope she feels better soon.

Hope she feels all better today.  Julie you definitely did the right thing - rushing her to the vets.  You just never know with injuries like that.  Glad it seems to be just her muscles and not a disk.

Healing rays headed Tiff's way!

Healing rays to Tiff.  Isn't it amazing how the furkids can ignore each other everyday, but in a time of crisis they all band together.

You and Eric are amazing foster parents.

That is so scary!  Thank God it wasn't any worse.  Those things can happen so quickly!

That scared me until I read the end!  So glad it was only a muscle strain/pull instead of a disc!  I"m sure you all are too.  :)  Sending rays and prayers that she gets to feeling herself again soon.

How scary!  Glad to hear everything seems OK.  Sending rays from extremely chilly Iowa!

My heart jumped to my throat -----so glad you rushed her to the vet quickly.  With rest, I am sure she will heal just fine.  I know you were scared to death.  I love the thought of Koby and the others watching over her.  Keep us posted - and multi-rays are on the way!

Over a dozen years ago, Max had a similar episode.   The little guy thought he was Indiana Jones jumping from furniture piece to furniture piece, until he missed.   When he hit the ground, he looked like he broke in half.   I thought the worst.   I rushed him to the emergency vet amidst the howling protests from Rudy.

Like Tiff, it was just a soft tissue injury.   Max was a bit sore and my wallet was lightened by the episode, but that was about all.   There were no long term effects as evidenced by Max's relative spryness at his advanced age.

Glad to hear that it wasn't serious.  Looks like the pack is sticking together and looking out for each other. Those pups couldn't have found a better place than you and Eric :apls:
