We're thinking we may have to tie those orange reflector flags (the kind we used to put on our bikes) to the Zs to make sure we don't lose them in the snow.

I just went up to my parents to trade the power shovel for a snowblower.   We're getting ready to hunker down.   Luckily, our band was not booked for this weekend.

Illinois is supposed to get more tomorrow(FRIDAY!)! :ween:

Handle every "Situation" like a dog.
If you can't eat it or play with it,
tinkle on it and walk away.

It's 5 pm.  Izzit fallin' yet?  Nothing here yet in Bucks County, PA.  Thankful to be home from werk and stocked up on supplies like coffee and rawhides.  :-) We were supposed to go to poker night tonight, and I would pack my toothbrush and go if it weren't for my puppies...can't take em with us, they have C-A-T-S.

It started around 11 AM, but the temps were above freezing.   Around 2 PM the temps started dipping below freezing and by 3:30, it was sticking to the roads.   I closed the office at 4:00, left at 4:30 PM.    Luckily, most of the idiots were already off the road.   We now have about 2 or 3 inches on the ground and the snow is intensifying.

It's coming your way...slowly but surely.  There are winter storm warnings from the South Carolina border all the way to New York.  This is a HUGE storm.  It could be a record breaker.

The Zs are already very reticent about going outside.   Zora even had an accident in the house...only her second one since we adopted her in October 2006.   (Zeke very well housebroken, too, but nothing like Zora.  Zeke, on average, has an accident in the house once every couple of months).  I'll probably take them out one more time before I head off to bed for the evening.  We'll see what things look like in the morning.

I don't know how you guys do it.  The midwest and east have much worse winters than we do.  Just keep it down there.  As long as you don't run out of candles and good wine you should be fine.  Don't hurt yourselves shoveling.

About 10 years ago we got a storm in mid-March.  It snowed 32 inches in 12 hours.  The doxies at the time.....Hasen, Harry and Christopher......weren't paper-trained and were used to going outside to go potty.  I opened the back door so they could go out on the deck and all they saw was this wall of snow, and they looked at me like "you gotta be kidding mom!"  I had to shovel out a little area for them, then we got smart and got paper-trained.

:meme: Well, we gots da two footsies of snow an' Auntie Karen had to go out and shovel out half da deck for da Herd an' dey went out an' all three peed!  Piccys tomorrow!

ha ha I saw a card in the card shop with little kids on the cover.  The first kid sez: "My momma says love made me." The second kid sez: "My momma said God made me."  The third kid sez: "My momma says a snowstorm and scotch made me."

We got about 14" here.  And it was blowing--so that's the average I guess.  The kids have their racetrack and Zuzu dutifully buries all of Loki's poops. Sargie says: "That's layin' a minefield."

Ya'll be safe out there, DH made it to within 30' of the driveway on Friday night and then got stuck.  Good thing a stong teenager was out on his four wheeler and helped him up the last little rise into the driveway. Yesterady it cleared around noon and we dug most of the way out.  Glad it was a Saturday, at least, takes SOME of the worry out of it.  Made a big pot of soup, some brownies and took lots of Tylenol!!!

:chairfall: Does anyone remember "Midget Tossing?"

Well, this morning, a new sport was born: Dachshund tossing!!  I spent the evening clearing the deck for the Herd, who repaid my kindness by standing at the top of the stairs and refusing to move.  So I picked up Dr. Leaky and tossed him into the 30" snow drift.  He was quickly joined by his fellow "Tossee" Merlin.  Ima beat a retreat before I could catch her.

The boys turned themselves around and heaved and hopped and dug their way back to the deck (about five feet, don't start with me!).  Then dearest Beau went back down the path and started swimming!!!  I mean he looked like a pony from Chincoteague swimming across the channel - all head and front paws paddling for all he was worth!  He went back and forth on the ten foot path he had carved out, about three or four times, each time widening the turnaround at the end.  Then he went back one more time and POOPED! :apls:

I'm so proud of my little boy!!  :hyper: :blob7: :blob8: :blob9: :wav: I'm verklempt!

So he got to come in and the other two little sh*^$s - excuse me - poopers - had to stay outside until they each left me a little gift on the deck.  i guess they need their privacy. :dontknow:
