First we waited for the momma to come home.

Den food fell from da sy. But it was only RICE.

Den we went outside to hunt mousies.

A pretty good day!

Sounds like a really rough day, but a good day! Its nice doing stuff that gives that nice tired out feeling. You better go take a nap!

Oooh, I see you've got a mommy like mine! Mommy is, as papa calls her, a sloppy cook. That means being in da kitchen is a good place for a dachsie to be when mommy is cooking up dinners or zerts. Why, just yesterday, mommy was mixing up a recipe called Apple Crisp and when she turned on the mixer, the stuff in the bowl flew right out and landed on the fwoor for me to eat. After all, I have been subjected to kittycat food now, so a girl's gotta get fud where ever it comes from.

Porky here: Can I come on da next hunting expedition? I gots to get good at da hunting stuff now dat we lib on da farm. We have dese fings here called sheep. Oh my, dey are noisy and stinky! Mama took me out on da weash and walked me round da pwoperty and we saw dose sheep fings and da one looked me right in da eye. Scared me real bad, den she sez dis to me, real loud, "BAAAA"

So... be careful on your expeditions, you neber know what you will find.

And as far as da food fwom da sky? Sounds pwetty gweat to me, cept it coulda been somefing tastier like meat! Or eben dose yummy wittle spwinkle fings mama uses on cookies.

Porky, here iz da secret to catching mouses and squirrels: When you chase dem, DO NOT BARK. Apparently dey do not wike this and it makes them run away. You will get much much cwoser if your humom opens da door weal swow and den you thunder off the porch and across the yard. (Add a little flying leap action to impwess the humom.) Den open your mouf and run as fast as you can.
I don't dink the skirlws hate dis as much as barkin', cause dey don't go awhile as fast. Good luck wiff da sheep. Dey look like giant stuffies and I fink you will have a good time after you catch it.

Do not trust stickies I was chew on ones when I was about your age it went side ways got stucks iin my mouth Buddy had to howl for Momma to come rescues me. She cames out of the house saw me fightents for my life she tried to get the stickies out no luck.She took mes to the vets they puts mes in a glass box I gots really sweepisey. Next thing I knews I woked up no stickes in my mouths no mores,Mommas hads to waits around awahiles to make sures I was OK wennt homes Buddys was sure happy to see us.Patches Also donts eats no pills of any kinds on your owns iifen your MOm or Dads give it too yous thats OK. If yous eats ones offen the floor you gets to go to the vets and they spour charcoles down your throats and you have to get pokes wiiiith a needle spennds the nights at the vets. Is had to go to the specials vet wheres they checks on yous all the times,no funs sleepens in a metals cage alls nights.yous have too be goods and listens to your cousins Doxies they knows and beens theres.Patches

Aw, thanks, Delia; they just had their birthdays last week. Zuzu is NINE!!! (there is more white hair on that snoot than you can see in these pictures.) and Loki is 11--mebbe 12. Having a hard time keeping the pounds off of them though.

p.s. and Porky, the other secret to chasin' squirrels is: do not chase 'em with yer mouth wide open, the wind resistance reduces yer speed.
