I found hollowed out (and smoked) marrow bones at Fred Meyer, but I have also seen them at animal feed stores.  Make sure the hole is big enough or you will be cursing yourself as you try to stuff it.  Stuffing can be peanut butter, yogurt, cottage cheese and even pumpkin!  Hallie would love it.

Thanks Patty, Hallie loves you for this!  :thumb: I had some marrow bones once that I was going to do that with, but they had "stuff" still on them (tissue "stuff", as Noel would say "bouncy bits") so I chickened out. I didn't think of Fred Meyer, etc...I will definitely get some, maybe mix some canned food in there with the things you mentioned, too. It will give her something to do on these snow days. Your 3 are lucky to have a creative Mom! :)

DD, the marrow bones I found at Fred Meyer had been cleaned (sanitized) and were individually packaged.  I would stay away from any "bulk" bins.  And make sure the bone is between 3-4 inches long, it keeps the dogs busy for a while........great tongue exercise.

Good advice, I didn't think about the length, just the width. Can't wait to get out there and get some, such a great idea! HEY in the meantime I could fill up one of my curlers with cottage cheese and pumpkin for her, eh?  :thumb:

I've also gotten some of the sterilized marrow bones at PetSmart. Molly was so funny trying to get the peanut butter out of middle! Schatzi had not trouble with her long tongue, but Molly's bulldog tongue was a diferent story!
