IL Winter Wonder Land

Yesterday I went hiking in a nearby forest preserve in the midst of a beautiful powder snowstorm. You can see the big flakes (just not the one behind the camera) in the 1st picture. The 2nd is a little plank bridge halfway through the woods. After I got home I found the garden art trying out the NYE party hats and the bee balm joining in.

Pretty great shots, the snows looks like in different kind of art with those forms and shapes.. :thumb:

It´s so beautiful when you are warm and safe! Did Cliffie go with you? Love your garden shots too, very pretty. Looks like you deserved a wee dram after that hike too. Miguel says the underdraft is too chilly for a kilt...

HAHAHA, tell Miguel it was definitely too breezy for a kilt unless ye also had some trou's. Clifford stayed home in his warm bed. In most places the snow would have been over his head. At 15 1/2 he's not much into exploring anymore.

Mmmm, this household is the real McCoy - inspection mirror on the threshhold floor, if you get my drift. Wise old Clifford staying cosy at home. Exploring should be limited to centrally heated sleeping bags inside rucksacks on Dad´s back at his age - if at all.

I'm really starting to get jealous! I don't want too much snow (it doesn't have to stay around forever) but a good 6 or 7 inches would be wonderful!!! Last year we had 4 or 5 inches on March 1st. That has been it for the last several years. For a few days they were forecasting snow showers on Christmas, but that forecast quickly turned to rain. Oh well, there is always hope. The winter is still quite young.

Looks absolutely gorgeous. I really like the snow (Rich doesn't care for it much) and Sophie, well, you would think that she is a "Siberian Dachshund". She really likes it when the snow is crusty enough where she can just run on top of it. She's got a full coat and impressive "foot hair", which gives her a layer of something between her pads and the frozen ground. When it snows like your first picture, well, I can hear Sibelius in it. Right now, we've got those sub-zero temps, and more snow on the way--Tell Clifford that a safe, warm bed is a great place for a pupper waiting out a storm!

That is gorgeous! Of course, that's easy for me to say, living in Texas. We had our first white Christmas in 83 years, this year! We missed it - spent the holidays in Georgia, visiting Ron's family.

Clifford, you're one smart dude! Staying safe and warm is the name of the game!
