Let me tell you, she was not pleased.    After we went out for potty stuff this morning, she came back in shaking her head and scratching her ears.  I watched this for about 10 minutes, got dressed, put her in her carrier and off to the vet we went.  I had wiped the inside of her ears out with a warm washcloth, and that didn't do it for her.

The vet said she had the beginning of an ear infection, and most of the pet owners he sees would not have caught that for another two weeks.  Hmmmm....they must not spend as much time with their babies as we all do.  I don't see how you could NOT notice something wrong there.  They did an ear swab to make sure there were no mites....none....and then gave her a shot to start her off.

Poor baby.  I think they heard her three or four blocks down the street.   :comfort:  I pulled out a handfull of treats for her - don't want her to hate vet visits.

I paid for the visit with my credit card, and I swear her little eyes lit up.   :meme: :meme: :meme: Oh no....what have I done?

When we lived in St. Louis, lo those many years ago .... we had a wonderful German Shepard, Gretchen.  Any trip to the vet had to be rewarded with White Castles.  Any meal of WC meant she had to remain outside because they gave her the most awful gas, and she knew how to use it.  :eeew:

I thought for sure we would have a fight on our hands putting the ointment in Taffy's ears, because she really doesn't like it when I try to clean them, but she has been a total lamb about it.  She stopped shaking her head almost immediately after she got the shot, so I know she is feeling and doing much better.

There were several others at the vet at the  same time that were being treated for ear infections.  I said something to the vet about it.  He shrugged and said, "It's Florida". He feels because it is warm and humid that there will be a lot of ear infections.  Gretch never had an ear infection, and trust me, St. Louis really had hot and humid down pat.   Her puppiness spends most of her time inside in the air conditioning....so don't see why that will be a real problem....but??

She is already doing great....went out and told the meter reader to get lost (how rude!).  I probably should have apologized, but he was clinging to the fence next door, staring thru a privacy fence?  Even I asked who he was   Then she bounced in and demanded breakfast.  Yep...she's better  :2funny:
