Confirmed - mom has cancer

Mom had her consultation at Mayo Clinic in Scottsdale, AZ this morning. It is cancer. Treatment will not start with surgery, it will start with 5 weeks of radiation and maybe some chemo. Then maybe surgery. Need to get a scan done to see if it has spread. The doctor said it is not a common cancer. Its a type of skin cancer up in the female area. All treatments will be done at Mayo in Scottsdale so mom will be staying at my sister's place which is real close to Mayo. The doctor said "this is a serious cancer that needs expert radiation treatment, it is not a simple treatment." With that being said, she cannot get the treatments done in Yuma, AZ where the folks live. But thankfully my sister is in Scottsdale and there are a couple more of us sisters who can get down there to help when needed.
Please pray for my mom.

So very sorry to hear this. There is a lot of cancer in my mom's family, so I know how scary this is. I will be thinking about you and your mom.

I am so sorry Patty I hope the treatment goes well and that you can get down to see her soon. That is great you have a sister so close to where her treatments need to be. She is in the best place. I've been through this too many times with my own family I wish they could come up with gentler treatments, I hate this disease. Keep us posted.

I have been and will continue. I did forward your email along to many of my high school BFFs who have cancer survivors and I know they have added her to their prayer list, as well as forwarding it along, too.
