You guys will not believe dis last coupla days in our neighborhood!

On Thursday morning we had weally bad wind and if dat wasn't scary enough dere were 'splosions and den a FIRE right across the street!!! Den da firemen came and da 'lectric company came and they sawed down a big tree.  We got to bark a lot! And it was five am!

Den today fluffy white stuff fell and da police were parked behind our fence and a big truck came because somebuddy's car swipped across da road.

And DEN this is SO WEIRD!!! MORE 'splosions--lots of them.  And big colors in da sky.  Mama said dey was fireworks--but I nebber seen no fireworks in da snow before, so we had to bark at them.  I didn't want to go out in the snow 'splosions so I peed on da porch, instead. What kinda place iz dis, anyway???

Les here:  the girls have every right to be nervous, and yes, we did have actual fireworks in town.  Our little burg was celebrating it's 100th Christmas tree lighting, and the town council NEVER passes up an opportunity for fireworks.  This time, though, they moved them to cemetery hill, a 1/2 mile from town proper, and a 1/2 from our house.  We kept thinking they would cancel since we had 3 inches of snow on the ground, and it was kinda sleet/snowing, but they went off as scheduled.  It was a beautiful sight against the background of snow covered trees and buildings and we had a front row seat from our backyard--a very cold front row seat.  The first couple of concussions knocked snow off the tree branches.

The explosions on Thursday morning were a tree that fell into a telephone pole, knocking out the transformer and starting a pretty decent fire for ten minutes.  DH had to drive around the block to get out of the neighborhood.

The girls will get some special treats tonight, on the whole, they did pretty well with all the wierdness.

Bonnie:  Fires?  I don't like fires.  I would have shook and got real flat to the ground.  Fires are yucky.  Those explosions don't sound none too fun either.

Madison:  Huh?  What's going on?  Fire?  Explosions?  I gotta go pee.  Don't wanna traverse across the house so I'll go right here, thank you very much.  I'd SQUEEK at the fire!

I don't like fires either as a grocery store across the street caught fire and it was real scarey as the can food was exploding and scared me so bad cause this was an on going noise for 3hrs!!!   I mostly stayed in my mom's arms and under her bed where nothing can get me.  I told mom we should get into the car and drive somewhere safe but the big red fire trucks were in the way.
