Gotcha Day #15

While today is Clifford's Gotcha Date, we celebrate on the last Thursday of November in honor of that being the day he came to live with me.  I give thanks every Turkey Day for his presence in my life.  My cousin knew I had agreed to take him from a friend who couldn't keep him and begged me to bring Clifford to the family dinner.  Because her brother's young daughter had tragically died a few months earlier and his family loved little dogs, she felt Clifford would help cheer them up.  That he certrainly did.  He gave and received kisses to the other girls and greatly enjoyed all their attention.  He became an instant fixture at all future family gatherings. 

He was exactly 6 months old and I had known him for 4 of those months.  I still remember looking at him walking around the house the day after Thanksgiving thinking, "OMG, I have a dog".  Actually, in retrospect, it was he who had me from the very first minute.

So, Happy Gotcha Day to my little, old, wobbly, hard of hearing Best Bud.

I was thinking about you both this week because you have told this story before and I realized Cliffie is 15 and handsome as ever.  Thanks for the new desktop background of Mr. Smoooooooooooooooooooth. I just want to snuggle him all up.

Oh, Clifford- happy gotcha day indeed!  I am so sorry I didn't get to meet you when I was back in Missouri that particular summer that my mom wanted me to use my VUE to load compost - because I threw out my back and was miserable driving.
