Since winter is coming with the dogs in the house more I give Buddy my Doberman gets 2-3 1000mg Salmon Oil softgels & 2-3 Vitamin E softgel's every day was thinking 1 sotfgel Salmon oil & 1 Vitamin E 100 IU softgel's would be OK for Patches the 14 pound Dachshund but thought I better ask around since Buddy weighs 97# and Patches weighs 14 pounds big difference in weight. They usually get dry skin in winter makes them itchy.? Thanks ahead of time on any thoughts on this plan I have gave them before but not everyday to Patches I just throw them in her bowl she eats them right down.Papbouv

Porky is 10 pounds and on half a softgel a day of fish oil, or 1 Tablespoon of the liquid.  If you give him a whole softgel he gets runny poo and greasy skin.   I don't know for sure about the Vitamin E.  Definately go half or less with Patches on the salmon oil tablet.

It's always so hard to know what to do. I used to give Hallie 100 IU of vit E (and Jessie all her life) but recently there have been studies in humans showing too much Vit E is harmful...so I got scared and stopped giving it to her. (both she and Jessie got back problems anyway...). I was giving her fish oil too but the risk of mercury in it scares me too so I stopped. You just feel sometimes like no matter what you feed them you are poisoning them!
