So i love training Finnegan, and he loves learning new stuff. But i have run out of fun stuff to teach him!! Im not creative enough!  :BangHead: And i have seen quite a few of Hallies cutie patotie tricks. So i was wondering if you have any really good ones, and how you do them!!??  :apls:

Fin learns darn fast too.

I promise to post vids if i can get him to do them!

Sam and Eddie always loved a little treasure hunting.  I would keep them in a room while I hid treats in the living room then let them hunt for them.  They had so much fun and eventually learned the difference between  You're cold and You're hot.

I also taught them how to find treats hidden under a paper cup.  Sam was really good at this.

Roberta

We actually hide and let them find us. you think its easy but its not as they don't actually look up if you stand on the bench in the bathroom. If I hide it took Nick to keep telling them to use your nose. now they are quite good and getreally excited if the are pt in the laundry, they know what we are going to do.
Angus was the best, don't laugh I used to go out the side door over the side fence and over the front door and hid eon the other side of the front door, he always knew if I hide there. The othe rfunny is if you go out to hang out washing and the two did not see you go out, they come round the side of the house and think you have been hiding and bark for their treat.

Here's an important one that I taught Zuzu: "Leave it".  Any random thing you don't want him to have on walkies, give a leash tug and "leave it" command, we he stops investigating whatever, then praise. He finds something off leash, approach and give "leave it" command until he walks away. (then praise) Zuzu really has this down.  If she's outside and I need her to stay (relatively) clean and she starts hunting/digging, I say leave it and she walks away.  Leave it also means stop licking.

She also learned ON HER OWN THE PERFECT SMART PRINCESS that skeedaddle means get out of the way ("leave the kitchen you're under foot "and "move over and share the sofa with mom", etc.)

Oh, another one: "Chop chop" means hurry --take the little booger on a leash and pick up the pace "Chop chop!" Run with me!  Works well with "Bring it! and getcherhineyoutthedoorandgopeealready.

You can also teach him to retrieve toys by their name.  (Everyone names their dog's toys, right?)

The Army crawl is a cute one, too, and hit at parties.

Ohh Fin doing tricks will be too cute to stand!!
I'm not sure which of Hallie's video's you've seen but one of her best is the "on your mark....get set.....go!"

I will say "who's your buddy" and she will put her paw up on whatever I have set in front of her (including my head).

She does "high five...other side" (both paws)

She does "spin"

"bark" (big event for us took me 7 years to convince her it was OK to bark).

She backs up on command

She gives hugs on command

She does the "bang" trick

I say "who's your favorite" and she reaches her paw out like she's pointing at me.

She does all the obedience things of course, including sit adn down while moving (while heeling), she does a stand with hand signal, recall, finish, heeling, etc.

We are working on a new trick right now but it's not ready for public viewing yet but wi'll send along a video when it is.

You HAVE to take videos and post for us when Fin learns his tricks!!

OOOOOOO i like all of these! I like the crawl idea.. and the toy by name!! OOOO IM SO EXCITED!!

Fin can do "sit" "Lay down"  "Wave Bye bye" (my favorite) "High Five" and "Paw" (Left and Right) he does "Box" "Bark" "Roll over" and sometimes i can get him to say "Ma ma" Its HYSTERICAL!
I am currently teaching him "spin" and he almost has it. He also gives "one kiss" And when the phone rings he runs to it.

Patches knows, sit up,wave, speak.circle, roll over, shake paws right & left, dead dog( wiggles too much on it though) When she does speak she has to growl talks first then a few barks.Buddy obedience commands, speak but he is really quiet when he speaks?we play mom hides & he finds me,he cheats will break the wait command before I get hid sometimes.
When you teach circle and it is raining  or snowy I put a warm towel down on the floor Patches does circle -wipes her own paws & then I tell her rollover she usually wraps herself up in the warm towel.Good if you have a bad back & cute too.

Now I'm depressed.  My dachshunds act like cats whenever I try anything.  And I used to train DOGS, for heaven's sake!

Ha ha aw Karen its ok...

Fin just learned "Dance" (i hold out my hands and he hops up and puts a paw in each hand) and now has "Spin" down as well.

We are currently trying to do "Crawl" but everytime i try to get him to lay down he thinks i want him to do roll over.
