I did not know anything about brown Widow spiders hubby was watching the news I was cooking dinner so today I looked them up.They are smaller than the Black Widow and are more poison's they have eggs with spines sticking up all over. Some people I read about have said they have hundreds of eggs sacks in their yards they use to be in Tropical areas now moving all over the USA. You may want to look them up they all have the big abdomen  but are different colors.Could not find anything about them biting dogs when a human get bitten makes a human sick so not much telling what a bite would do to a Fur Kid.? From what I read the best way to find them is use a flash light hunt for them at night but they are not sure what will kill them everyone has a different opinion even Pest Control people are having problems getting rid of them. They say the can be found anywhere in cars, under cars, any cracks anywhere, items in the yard picnic tables.yard chairs, flower pots, love cluttered closets, any dark areas.Very scary to read about them.

Well, their habitat is NOT ground dwelling, so that's one thing so feel safe(r) about.  Like the Black Widow, they make an unstructured web--image an old cobweb that has been a bit tattered and crumbled. It's legs are distinctly striped--with dark areas on the joints.   They are smaller than the Black Widow, and of course the males are smaller still.  If you suspect a brown widow, unless the gosh darn thing is under your privy seat, just leave it alone.  Clearning debris out of your yard and keeping the woodpile from the house are always good ideas. Keep your house clean and there be will nothing for them to hunt.  They're just tryin' to make a livin'.

If you see a large population, and it's right near your house THEN get a positive identification from an expert before extermination.  Otherwise, put up a bird house or a bird suet feeder nearby (To attract insectivores) nature will do the rest.

Srlsy, the brown recluse is the one you want to worry about in the US 'cause those little buggers are just plain old spider lookin' spiders. AND THEY like to live on the ground.

I'm hear to tell ya this because I lived on a farm that was CRAWLING with spiders, snakes, walking sticks, and centipedes.  After the initital heebie jeebies I started reading about spiders and unless you pick the dag thing up or crush it with your foot, you are safe.

I think you are more likely getting nailed by an idiot driver than being bitten by any of the above.

Thanks the Web site I was taken too when I googled Brown Widow spider is where I got the information I wrote I only looked because hubby said it was on the news they were here in Tulsa new to our area.Patches will go after any kind of critter that moves I was not sure if she was in danger or not.On the one page I was looking at people were writing in about their experiences  with the Brown Widow spider some bitten in bed sitting in a chair so that was what I was going by.Guess we are considered tropical area in summer 100*-1006* with and with out the heat index added in, we need to have a supper cold winter to get rid some of the creepy crawlies as such.Yuck do not like any of them.

I was bitten by a spider when i was younger and the doctor thinks it was a Brown Recluse. I still have the scar, ts about (    )  that size. I had to go on medication cuz the venom in the spiders bite keeps eating away at the skin.

Are these other brown spiders in Canada???

so much for my own advice.  I THINK I have one in my brush pile. I couldn't get a real good look because she the brush pile is wide.

The tree guys are supposed to come and chip these branches.  I guess I better relocate her!
