Well, as a good doxie mom....I knew this was coming a couple days ago because we all know what to look for.  Had Winston at the Care Center Emergency Hospital last night and I was right.  Caught it early (again) and at this point is a mild episode.  So we have three weeks of monitored activity; crate rest, sitting on dad's lap, leash pottys, etc.  Have the tramadol for pain, rimadyl for inflammation and pepcid for the tummy; about two weeks worth.  We are letting him sleep with us in the big bed as it is king size, has a large ramp and baby bed rails all along the sides, so there is no jumping down.  He is feeling better already (the tramadol is doing that of course) and hubby had a hard time with the lunchtime potty break.  He doesn't like the leash to potty in the yard and wanted to chase butterflies. :doah:  Daddy is already complaining.  Tonight we will see how it goes and try and keep him calm and sitting in daddy's big oversized recliner on daddy's lap all night.  Zoe has been so sweet to her brother and layed next to him last night and kissed and licked him....I shoulda had a camera.  During work hours he is crated and will be crated on the week-ends.  Wish us luck! :xfinger:

UPDATE-WELL TONIGHT HUBBY PICKED WINSTON UP TO GO OUT TO POTTY....HE WHINED A BIT.  WHEN I GOT HOME FROM WORK, HE WAS BESIDE ME IN MY CHAIR AND TURNED AROUND AND WHINED AGAIN.  CALLED THE CARE CENTER AND THEY REFILLED THE PRESCRIPTIONS FOR TRAMADOL AND RIMADYL.  THEY SAID THIS DOES HAPPEN AND  THEY DIDN'T NEED TO SEE HIM WHICH HELPED ME NOT BE TOO WORRIED.  JUST GOT HOME FROM TRAVELING 35 MILES TO AND FROM TO PICK THEM UP.  HE HAD HIS TAIL BETWEEN HIS LEGS EARLIER IN THE EVENING AND WALKED TO THE BEDROOM AND HID UNDER THE BED.  HE EVENTUALLY CAME OUT AND WAS WALKING NORMALLY BUT JUST NOT HIS LITTLE SELF.  NOT ACTING NEAR AS BAD AS LAST WEEK.  THIS HAS SCARED ME TO DEATH!!!!!  HUBBY FEELS TERRIBLE.  TONIGHT WHEN I GOT HOME I CHECKED ON  HIM AND GAVE HIM HIS MEDICATION.  HE APPEARS OKAY, BUT AM STILL WORRIED....MAYBE HUBBY HURT HIS RIBS...NOT SURE.  ANY EXTRA RAYS AND PRAYERS WOULD BE HELPFUL THAT HE WILL BE FEELING HIMSELF IN THE NEXT FEW DAYS AND NO FURTHER PRESCRIPTIONS WILL BE NEEDED....HE WAS DOING SO WELL....WILL FOLLOW UP WITH VET IN A WEEK TO SEE HOW HE IS DOING.  ANY EXTRA PRAYERS FOR HUBBY WOULD BE HELPFUL TOO!!!  WINSTON HAD A VERY RESTLESS NIGHT LAST NIGHT.

Winston just turned 5 years old in April.  Last night we kept him pretty calm sitting next to us on our loveseat and oversized recliner.  This morning he had a bowel movement, hadn't had one in a few days..... :headbang: (yea...only another doxie owner would understand).  I find that if I take him out to potty late at night and very early in the morning by himself, he just calmly walks around the yard a little bit and then wants right in.  At lunch time today hubby had to lifT him out of his crate, he didn't want to walk out but then proceeded to walk around the yard a tad and then rolled on something stinky!!!   :verdict:  They are just such little devils, aren't they!  I will possibly write more tonight.  All in all, he seems to be doing well...not quite himself yet, but I expect in a couple days he will even be doing better.  Thank you all for your thoughts and well wishes!

Dee Dee, Winston seems to be progressing. We let him walk around the house some last night but most of the night was in our chairs with us on our laps.  His eyes are brighter and there is a spring in his step now...you all know what I mean...what little "bounce" is coming back.  No hesitation to walk out of the crate now.  We are careful not to let him walk too much on potty breaks.  He will get lots of crate rest today as we have to go out tonight...many more pills to take....I always worry about what it will be when the pills are finished...Keep those rays and prayers coming!!  They are definitely working :apls:

It sounds like he is going to be just fine!! It will probably take you longer to catch up on your sleep and stess level though...yes it is great to see the spring in the step again and I am with you on the pills, it is always scary to take them off afraid of what will happen! but the vast majority of the time they continue to do really well. Hang in there give him a kiss on his head for us.

Since I picked up the new prescriptions Monday night, Winston seems to be doing well today.   :xfinger:  He slept well last night and no reluctance to come out of the crate to go potty.  Thank you all for your well wishes....please pray we do not have another setback

Oh good I'm so glad to read this, my heart sank when I read the setback message. I know how your heart can sink when they are doing well and then something like this happens. But it's all part of the healing process. Sounds like he's going to be just fine! I'm sure harder on you and poor hubby at this point...prayers and rays coming for all of you.
