Is anyone else going to go see it?  I read the book and LOVED it, so I'm pretty excited to see the movie.  I'm pretty sure the book will be beter than the movie because of how complex the story is, they will surely have to leae some key parts out.    I will warn anyone going to see it that you WILL cry at least once during the movie.     (assuming its like the book.)     I have read the book 4 times, yes, its that good!!

Teresa

Yes, Meghan and I are going to see it. I have the book on my nightstand to start reading this weekend. I'll have it finished in no time, I'm sure. I thought of watching the movie first, but decided to go ahead and read the book. After reading your post, I'm may have to start it tomorrow. I love anything by Jodi Picoult, but can only read one or two of her books together, then have to take a break. Did you ever read Nineteen Minutes? It was incredible, also.

I haven't read Nineteen minutes yet.  I've been wanting to, just haven't had the chance.   I think you'll like "My Sister's Keeper".  I read it in one day, once I started, I didn't want to stop.     :2funny:  I love Jodi Picoult books too.  Let me know what you think after you finish reading this one.

I loved the book as well. Have you read any of Jodi Picoults other stuff? I am sort of addicted to her right now. Usually i dont like seeing book to movie remakes cuz they usually dont do the book justice, but i'm looking forward to this one.

I think I have read almost all of her books.  I worked at a bookstore and got hooked on her writing and ended up buying quite a few of them.  The ones I didn't buy, I read at the library.   Which one is your favorite that you have read so far?  I cant choose a favorite.  I like them all too much.

Um.. i have read Keeping Faith, The Pact, Change of Heart, Sisters Keeper.. and one more i think... i cant remember though...

I liked Change of Heart alot.. it was pretty powerful.. i might have to go search out the other one i read.. haha

I have read Keeping Faith, Plain Truth, Tenth Circle, The Pact, and one other one (harvesting the heart...I think)  I also own Vanishing Acts, but have yet to read it.   And of course, I've obviously read My Sister's Keeper.

Teresa,
Did you know they made the Tenth Circle into a movie too?!   It was good, but not as good as the book.   I think it aired on lifetime television and I know you can buy it or rent it most places.

Roberta

I've read a lot of her booksd to, Will probably get the movie out here soon, but I think a movie was made based on the story with Anthony lepagia a while a go but not called My sisters keeper so it will be good to see how they differ.

I had forgotten that The Tenth Circle had been made into a movie. I'll have to look for it. We have finished Vacation Bible School, and as much as I loved it, I can't wait to have some time to sit down and read again. These 14 hours days have been exhausting!

I really like a variety of books actually.  I read mostly Christian based books, but I read anything I can get my hands on.   :2funny:  I love books by Karen Kingbury, Neta Jackson, Melody Carlson and Jennifer Chiaverni.    Other than that , I read whatever looks interesting to me.

Teresa

Karen Kingsbury has a new book coming out on Tuesday titled Take Two. I've read the entire Baxter series and have started this series, also. I've met her three or four times and she is an incredible woman.
Have you read anything by Dorothea Frank? She is a writer, originally from S.C., who is great. She is another one whose books I can't put down once I start them. She has a book coming out next week or the next, also, so I better make sure I'm caught up on everything else I have to get done.
Our power was out from 5:30 yesterday evening until 12:30 p.m. today (on a 96 degree day-so glad it came on when it did). I picked up a battery-powered latern and My Sister's Keeper and read for the evening. I'm about a third of the way through the book. It is fantastic!

Have you read the Mitford series about Father Tim?  I love those books,  I'm also in love with the Philip Gulley Harmony series about the Quaker meeting in Harmony Indiana.

Teresa

I love the Harmony series. Have there been any new ones lately? I haven't checked and really need to do that. Meg has read the Mitford series, but I never did pick it up and start it.

The last Harmony Book other than the Christmas Special about the Scrapbook was the one where a female takes over Sam's duties.  I wish there would be more I so want to move to Harmony, too bad its only fiction.

I have read a few of the Mitford series, never read the Harmony series though.  I'll have to try those.    I heard that the ending of the movie of Jodi Picoult's book is NOTHING like what happened in the book. I'm kind of disappointed by that, but I will probably still go see the movie.  I think a lot of readers will be disappointed to see how much of the book they took out and that they completely changed the ending.   I hate when they do that!!!

Teresa

I loved the Sister's Keeper book. I could see why you would want to read it more than once. I kept going back to some of the beginning parts when I was reading it, especially when I got to the last chapter.
Meg and I had planned to go the movie last Friday afternoon but a friend of hers died last week (he was 24) and we had to go to the viewing and then the funeral the next day. We decided that neither one of us could handle a movie that involved death of any kind right then. It was a tough weekend. We all went out-of-town for a couple of days Monday and that helped, but you could tell that it was still really bothering Meghan.
I hope we have a chance to go and see it this weekend sometime. I think we can both handle it now.
Meg said that she thinks they left out the character of the guardian ad litem in the movie. There isn't a person listed as playing her on IDMB.com. Since it would be hard to write that part in the movie, too, I can see why they did it, but it was such a good part of the book. I'm really glad I read the book first.

They did take out Julia's character completely and change the ending to something totally different.   The movie in itself was good, but I still like the book better.  I'm kind of disappointed in how they changed so much for the movie.  Time-wise though, I can see why they needed to take some crucial parts out.
