I really find that hard to believe that cute little dog would do something like that.  Sounds like to that cop was just trigger happy the bastard.  Sorry but that just makes me so mad.  Poor little doggie.

Anyone who has seen a taser knows that officer has to be lying!!   I have seen a taser take down a 400 pound man and disolve him into tears.    I have no doubt that a taser would have immobilized that poor dog and made him let go, if in fact he did bite the officer.    What a jerk!!!   :BangHead: :BangHead: :cussing:    Now I better stop, cause those are all the "nice" things I have left to say.    :cussing:

I'm not so quick to blame the police on this one.  This dog was left alone without supervision, had already escaped and bitten a passerby, and then bit a police officer and they could not pry the jaws free.  Even small dogs can lock their jaws with over 200 pounds of force.   When a dog locks its jaws, even a taser won't cause it to release.  I've seen how much damage a small dog can do.   If the dog had been put in a crate in the house while the family was away, or if the family had created a more secure surrounding so the dog could not get out, none of this would have happened.

This is an unfortunate incident, but, ultimately, as a pet owner they have to take some of the responsibility as well.

I agree with David that some responsibility for this has to fall on the owners.  Why was the dog running free to bite joggers and police while the owners were not home?  In fact, why was it not properly vaccinated?  Obviously these owners were not taking adequate care of this little guy, and he paid the price.  If the owners never socialized him properly, that may account for his aggressive behavior with strangers like the jogger and police.  It is terrible for this little dog that any of this happened.   Very sad!

David is right!

In reading the report, the police officer was bitten 17 times on one hand and nine times on the other.

The SPCA examined the dog afterwards and found the dog to be primarily Jack Russell Terrier and weighed 20 pounds. :BangHead:

The dog had no license, and NO rabies vaccination or other vaccinations. :verdict:

The police officer is being treated by a hand specialist. :temp:
