Lowriders in Ohio

This morning, the newest member of our family arrived.  He is Sammy, a black and tan smooth standard.  Sammy came to us through Dachshund Rescue of North America.  He is a big boy, around 25 lbs, with beautiful shiney fur.

So far Sammy has helped me pull weeds in the yard and generally checked things out.  He is getting along very well with our other 3 dogs, no significant snarling or growling yet.  He spent about 2 hours after his foster dad dropped him off crying at our back gate.  Finally, Sammy came over to where I was sitting on the ground pulling weeds and crawled into my lap.  He settled in for a little rest, and I took off my gardening gloves and petted him.  It was so sweet!  I have already taken a few pictures.  I will post some tomorrow so that everyone can see our newest boy.

Sammy came from Tennessee.  His foster dad is Edward, who is JetEd on this forum, and he did such an excellent job nursing Sammy back to health.  Sammy is in such wonderful condition now, you would never know that he was starving and living on his own outdoors.  DRNA was very easy to deal with and much friendlier than some of hte other rescue groups.  We have also adopted from Almost Home Dachshund Rescue, which is a great organization also.  Where did your DRNA rescues come from?

The very first one I adopted came from Georgia-it was a female tied to a door knob;because the people that had her was getting a divorce;and  the second one came from North Carolina his story was that he was left in a home depot parking lot.I no longer have these 2.The 2 that I have now are the sweetest ones I've had;one is partially blind and his name is Blusky and the other one I've got is a long haired red one named Manny.Blusky is a short haired red one.
Then the 3 my sister has gets along super with the 2 I have, one of the ones my sister has came from Kentucky and the other 2 came from Missouri. The funny thing about the 2 from Missouri came from the person I adopted Blusky&Manny from.My sister and family lives with my Mom and I.We live in a small town in Northern Illinois and have a big yard for 5 wonderful doxies to enjoy.
I'd say we have 5 alphabetical doxies: Arnold,Blusky,Cinni,Fritz&Manny!

I miss Sammy...but I know he's in a good home.

We spent saturday night in Georgetown KY and left for home Sunday morning. This morning I get to work and check my e-mail, seems there's a Longhair B&T 2yo female that needs rescue....in Georgetown KY. Don't that beat all ya! Now I have to arrange for transport

So now it's monday and I got not one but three requests to take in new Dachshuns.

It's raining Dachshund in need of rescue.

Oh.  Oh wow.  He is GORGEOUS - the spitting image of my beloved Sparky-Angel!  I am tearing up just looking at him.  Congratulations on your newest - and very handsome - addition to the family!

He is just stunning! A George Clooney of the Dacshund world!

I showed my mom so she could get an idea about the size difference between a mini and standard and she could only talk about how handsome he was!!

Oh Jennifer he really is a gorgeous boy. He looks like a real sweetheart. Congrats on your new baby! He's a very lucky doxie and yes he does look nice and big. I also thought of Noel's Sparky-angel first when I saw him.
