Need some advice

We took Parker to the off leash park for the first time since winter (about 6 months). He enjoys the park, and there was another doxie there for him to interact with. He prefers his own breed.
Anyway, once again there was excessive drooling. He seemed comfortable, and didn't ask to be picked up. But within 4 minutes of us being at the park, the slobbering started. And I mean SLOBBERING. He does asked to be picked up if there are a lot of dogs ripping around the park, or barking.
He never slobbers at home, or in the car or at the vets. Just at the park.
Interestingly enough he never slobbers at Wienerfest either where he gets sniffed by at least 500 dogs of his own breed throughout the 4 hours that we are there.
Any advice on how to help him get this slobbering undercontrol, or why he does this?

Do you give him any treats at the park??  The only thing I could think of is maybe he is associating food (treats) with the park??     I'm just guessing here, but if he is doing that, he's sloppering in anticipation of the treat.

Maybe females that have been in heat ? or the Dog Park makes him nervous ? hard to answer that one.

I was wondering the same thing. A friend of mines doberman (neutered) will sometimes sniff where other dogs are and start to foam and drool. If that's it, I don't really know what you can do about it...my friend just walks off with her dobie to distract and redirect him and he usually stops. Does Parker sniff the ground much while the drooling is going on, what is he doing exactly?

As a matter of fact he does sniff the ground a lot. Especially around trees and the fence lines. I never thought that the scents might be making him drool. He has been neutered, however, he is almost two, and we do have to remind him many times to get off the females. He is a little bit of a hound dog after all.  :thinik:

Neutered or not males will be males they pretty much all snuff and drool over girl pee click their little front teeth together does Parker click his teeth ? Sometimes you can hear it sometimes not bet its girl pee sniffing.Just being a male they all do it comes natural just re direct as much as you can I guess.Good Luck

I'm not sure if it's the same thing or not, but Gretchen drools like crazy.  She gets excited when we go on walks or to the dog park and will drool/foam around her mouth.  It's to the point of telling people "no she's not rabid, just excited."  She doesn't do it any other time so I just assumed it was excitement.  I do try to wipe her muzzle although that isn't always possible since she tends to run like a nutcase.
