I swear why do the fur kids try to give the momma's heart attacks we give them good food. pets, brush them & love them.Patches was on her Daddy's lap in his recliner gets up on the arm of his chair jumps over about 3 feet to the ottoman. The daddy was shocked and the momma was too.I asked her if she was flapping her ears thinking she was suppose to fly or what she kissed my nose go figure.

Madderoos Mom

Fearless li'l snots!  Dolly used to launch herself off the arm of the couch.  Gave mommy a heart attack every time.  Maddie is getting older now and getting stiffer.  She doesn't jump like she used to and (thank goodness) her skip a step thing she used to do when she came in from outside is a thing of the past.

My Trooper is a jumper too.  That's why he cannot be on the big bed.  He loves to take flying leaps off the porch.  He just doesn't like stairs.  He is 8 years old and I worry about his jumping as he gets older.  It's so scary to watch.

AH!!!   Patches, don't do that!    Porky likes to scare me like that too, one time he was in our bedroom and got the hair-brained idea to jump up on the big bed.  (Ours is really high!)   He took a running leap and landed halfway on the top of the bed.   He used his front legs to pull himself the rest of the way up!   :doah:  I was so thankful he didn't hurt himself, and then chewed him out.

Bless their little hearts!!  They all find a way to gib da mommas da heart 'tack....If the ramp to the recliner is not pushed up all the way to it (after daddy gets up) Zoe will do this flying leap thing where she runs up the ramp and flings herself into the seat of the recliner.....argh.....what's a momma to do :doah:

No Jumping on or off the bed here I hope twin size water bed with two sets of drawers under it makes it about 28" high Buddy just a bit taller than the water bed.If Patches tries that she will be banned from the bedroom and be crated so far she waits to be put on & off the bed.

When I had to move to Western WI I put in a big air bed.  Its not super high but not all that low either.  What drove me bonkers was hearing Twinkie jump off onto the hardwood floor!  Lets just say it was a pretty heavy thunk!  So I had a low hassock for a footrest in the living room, about 12-15" high, and I put that at bottom of the bed.  Then I had her come in the bedroom, put her paws on the hassock, boosted her back end onto it, and I think she immediate put front paws on bed and up. SHE NEVER tried to jump off it again!   Actually seemed to really enjoy going up it as well, no need for Mom to lift her up!!

Of course what can you expect from a doxie smart enough to know walking the railroad ties edging the walkway would keep her feet from getting wet!!

Dottie, age 9 jumps on and off bed, runs up and down stairs, jumps on the kitchen chair and climbs on and off the table

Judy, age 3 jumps on and off  bed, runs up and down stairs, walks the back of the sofa and climbs onto momma's desk

Patches, age 12, walks up and down stairs and waits patiently for mom or dad to pick him up or put him down from the big bed.  Always uses the little stairs to get to the sofa...  Good Patches!
