I've applied for a new position in the library system where I work and have made it to the interview stage.  If I get the position it would mean a larger payday and much of the same stuff I'm already doing.  It'll be in the fine arts library cataloguing music and such as well as supervising the student workers so wish me luck!  If I don't get it I'll still be able to work at my current job and pay rate so I won't be jobless.  A funny thing is that my current supervisor is on the search committee so she will be interviewing me..lol.

Good luck on Friday!!!!  Will be sending rays....

It's annual performance review time here, and everybody is on edge, since this is the first year that non-performers may get 0% raises.

I got through the interview pretty well.  I'm not sure how I did as I felt like I was repeating myself over and over... Hopefully they liked my answers though.  I was told they'd be making their decision this week so hopefully I'll hear something early next week from HR.  If not then I probably didn't get the position.

Another library brat!   :hello2:I've been working in libraries since I was 16, nearly 20 years now.  So April, any word?  I hope no news isn't bad news.  I'm curious where you library is.  I worked for Madison Public Library in WI for almost 14 years, and have worked for The New York Public Library for the last 5 years.  I love libraries!

April

WOW!  Well, I haven't heard so I'm assuming that means I didn't get it.  I know they already made the decision and sent it through HR last week at the latest.  That's OK though.
I'm at UK in KY.  I've been here for approximately 4 years but before that I was at the library at Pikeville College.  It would be impressive if I actually wanted a library degree.  I'm actually a biology person and I'm working on my masters in Biology!  lol  Kind of funny I think.

Add me to the list of Library geeks.  I don't have a Masters, but do have an Associates as a Library Tech.  I use to work at a law school where I learned to use a computer BBG before Bill Gates.  When I worked at the animal rescue group I set up a small library for them and a vertical file with all sorts of articles.  Now that I am not working I still visit my local library and buy used books for my private collection.

I just love to visit libraries, especially like the main branches of big cities.

April

Marcia, I've been working as a library tech here at UK and at Pikeville.  I catalog stuff pretty much.  It's kind of neat, but can get slow at times.

April I went to a seminar once and met a tech who work for the MI Dept of Natural Resources - all she did all day was sort slides of fish - talk about boring.

April

That would be boring.  I think I would go mad!  lol

April, I'm sorry you didn't get the job.  Look at the bright side when one door closes another opens so who knows perhaps something else is going to show up soon.  Good luck.

Tashas Mom

So sorry you didn't get the job April, but you never know what might open up next...

I was a library page, then a clerk, then an administrative clerk, loved most of those except my 4 years in children's services was kind of boring as I spent a lot of time clipping and collating book reviews.

Now I'm actually in a publishing dept learning about the publishing world...but still involved with the library for research.

April

Well, I'm working on my MS in biology and will hopefully finish that within 2 years.  The end of this semester will give me almost a third of it done so that's a good thing.  I'm also working towards some other areas but none of them are actually in the library field.  (It's actually in lactation related areas.)  lol  I'm hoping things will open up for me in the other areas though.
