I'm with Kathleen! LOL! We'll send you ours too. It sounds like the ocean is right outside my window tonight, not only snow but WIND. (are you getting that Kathleen?) I am going to go dry my hair in case the power goes out...because that would really...suck. I thought we were past our snow phase.

Mebbe the doxies and their parents should all play exchange student, Hallie and I will trade with ENNY of you who are in the dry and warm!!  :thumb:

Be careful what you wish for Guinness, you just might get it.

As far as the Zs and I are concerned, I'd be happy if we didn't get a single inch of the stuff all winter.

Hey Guinness, we know what that snow line looks like. We see it everytime there is snow in our area. We seem to live just a tiny bit on the wrong side of it. Sometimes we are too far east of it, sometimes too far south and even occasionally too far north (those are the odd snows from Alabama that get pushed south by the high pressure systems. Yep, if you see snow forecast for S.C., look for the snow line. The side of it that isn't getting snow is right where Schatzi, Molly and the rest of the family live.

We'd be more than happy to share the snow with you!  Unfortunately, I believe that Mother Nature's GPS Unit is not working properly and is broken since we seem to be getting all of the snow that so many others want!

We agree with the Herd and the Bunny Stalkers....we would love to play in some snow this year too.....can't play if you have ice on the ground :verdict:  You just slip and slide all over.  Ruth, you and Ellie have sure had your share of snow too....They charged you $80 bucks to remove it from your roof...that seems like a lot....those people are making a fortune  :doah:  Although I know it has to be done but it seems like they could not charge so much....

With about 2 feet of snow and ice on the roof....  $80 was a good deal.  It wasn't just the weight of the snow to worry about but the fact that the snow was covering vents .... especially the chimney for the gas furnace.  AND   there was NO WAY  that I could get up there and do it myself.
6- 10 inches of snow predicted for today.

Ruth, we must live in the "Snow Belt"!  It started snowing late last night and so far we have 4 more inches on the ground and it's still coming down......Our neighbor's son who is in the business of construction and clearing roofs/roofing did our house for $50.....since we keep an eye out on his mom.  Our other neighbor's nephew who is working for a company that is shoveling roofs said they charge anywhere from $75 for a small house up to $5000 for businesses.

Oh Ruth 80.00 is a great price.  Several years ago when we had a big snow some guys were charging 250.00 per roof, but someone came to my door and did it for 25.00.  Best thing about it was when the snow came off the roof it made a 3 foot space between the house and the snow bank - the boys like having their own dog run.

No wind for me (at least not that I noticed), thank goodness!  And it was all gone this morning.  I was a little worried last night-it looked like a blizzard when I took the dogs out to potty at around 10:30 last night.

Dee Dee and Hallie

You lucked out then it was raging here. Although I do love a good storm, as long as the power doesn't go out! It did sound pretty neat out there. It was gone this morning here too. I won't complain though after seeing Dee ad Daves pics!

I couldn't live in a place that had a wishy-washy winter.  You know, when the temps hang around 30-40, and if it snows you get all this sloppy slush.  Either be winter, get snow and have it stay or get off the weather pot!

Merion

I would love to send this crap to you  but I don't know how to get it to you.
My sister in law cleaned our roof off the other day.
We set a new record here for snow over 36".  The old record was 31" set in 1990.
I thought this was going to be a mild winter???????  :cussing:

We've got snow here in Iowa!  And, we've got ice on top of it!  Unless a dachsie is very skilled with their ice-prancing, it is possible for even a sure-footed dachshund to slip on to their side...dogs rolling on the ice... We have learned NOT to clip the hair on the foot in the winter (Sophie is a champion foot-hair grower) as it gives traction and warmth to the paw in the snowy/icy weather.  We do dig out paths 1 shovel wide, and down to the grass,  throughout the backyard to facilitate dachshund prancing on trips outdoors.

Snow in Iowa is usually not the soft, powdery, glittery snow like Colorado gets.  Ours is heavy and wet, making it great for snowmen (or snowdachs) but hard to shovel.  And, lately, we get an ice storm before and/or after the snow.  And did I mention the sub-zero wind chill factors?  I often time and monitor the duration of the "out" when it is too cold to be out for long.  I'll call them in before they get too very cold.

Our dogs have sweaters for the coldest weather.  And..for humans...if you get ice, there is a neat product called "Get-A-Grip"..these fit over your shoes, allowing you to tap-dance and scoff at the ice. :)  Because of my early onset osteoporosis, it is very necessary for me that I don't fall.  These do the trick.

But still.  I DO love the snow...:)  Sophie fares a bit better than Sam in it, but Sam is learning fast.

Since December 17, 2008, we have received 77.6 inches of snow. This is only January 6 and our winters with snow fall usually go into February.   Our average in the past has been about 30 inches for a season.  6.5 inches fell yesterday.....today it is a rain/snow mix with temps warming during the day but getting extremely cold at night which translates to ice conditions by nightfall.  I like snow, but this is a bit too much.  The furkids are getting tired of it....they can only go on the paths we have made for them and that's getting boring to see the same scenery......a wall of snow!  We do have ice on top of the snow also, and boths boys walk very carefully while they are out doing their business.  They don't spend a lot of time outside....only long enough to do their business!  It's suppose to be clear next week......a week without snow.....what's that??????  Have a good day, everyone!

Holy buckets, Dee!!!  That's alot of snow...  I don't envy you at all..  It is snowing here again today and we are supposed to get the winds later on, so anything could happen...  We got quite a bit of snow, but not near as much..  You can come visit us, we get the pretty snow, just not in extreme accumulations...   And, to think I complain about what we get...   Don't get me wrong, I LOVE the snow....  I don't like the cold that comes with it...    I was not meant for the cold...  lol   Princess Penny, EmmyLou says she is on her way to sunny San Diego...  Stay warm Sarge & Duggie, and all the other puppers in the wrong parts of the country...   Hugs & Belly Rubs....
