When my crew is sitting on my lap and I'm  petting them they "purr" or "humm"...not sure how to describe the sound but they are certainly making a sound of approval.

Mr. Wilson likes to lick, I think thats his way of petting me back.

Hah!  Winston does this, but only sometimes.  He'll take a cuz ball and put it in my hand, then grab hold of it.  I turn it very gently side to side, kind of rocking his head.  He starts out play growling, and it gets softer and softer until he's basically moaning quietly while I'm rocking him to sleep.  He hasn't done it in awhile though.

Murphy is my kisser.  I tell people he can't hold his licker.

Solly doesn't purr, but will sigh from time to time.  It is such a sound of contentment that I love hearing.

Handle every "Situation" like a dog.
If you can't eat it or play with it,
tinkle on it and walk away.

Willy and Alex will sometimes let out a very contented groan, but our late Misty was the one who would really purr.  Life was very good as far as she was concerned, especially when she was sleeping on the couch with her papa.
