King Sol here - Mom & Dad went to the meat market (only one in our town and not someplace they go often) and they had a big box of dog bones for $2.  :meme: SBD and I are freaking out a little with all the packing going on and strange people in our house (more on that from mom later) but for the most part we've been good.  And in case you heard about it, it was not ME who peed on moms silk bedspread during the rummage sale!  :angel4: Anyway, mom thought we deserved a nice treat.  SBD had no clue what to do with his,  he even tried to carry it and go hide it.  Goofball.  Anyway, the King shares bones with no one.  Not even mom.  I chewed and chewed and chewed, and the next thing I knew it was morning and the bone had disappeared.  I think someone took it while I was sleepin.

Parker here: you have to hide dem things when you feelin drowsey or dey disappear. Also don't hide dem in your Mommy's blankies, or in laundry piles. Dey disappear from them places too. Old shoes in back of closets is good hiding spots.

Teresa

What a fierce look you have, Sol! I'm sure SBD will leave your bones alone! I was wondering if your mom was moving, too. At one time she asked about Virginia Beach, but she didn't tell us if your dad decided to take the job there. Now I'm beginning to wonder if you and SBD are going to become East Coast doxies...

Hi gang - YES we are moving to Chesapeake, VA.  Been very very stressfull, and not alot of notice.  But I guess its like ripping off a band aid - just get it done.  Lining up movers, having a rummage sale, selling our business in pieces........putting office building and warehouse up for sale, winterizing our lake house because I don't know when we'll be back.......there aren't enough hours in a day.  And emotions are running high since neither of us have been away from our famiies before.
Jim will work, I will take a few months off to acclimate with the area.   We were there once to find a place to live, it looked l ike a great area.  I will post more and know more in a few weeks - movers coming to Green Bay on Oct. 16.  The dogs are very out of sorts, I think they think they will get left behind.  Poor dudes.  Hey, our new apartment complex has a dog park right in it, and a 2.5 mile walking trail around the complex.  Thats a plus.  I think.

Here's to new adventures......

Merion

King Sol that is just like Zack when he gets a bone.  So I put him in the kennel and let him chew on it till he has his fill.  That way there are no fights because someone else thinks they should have it.
When he comes out of the kennel and leaves it I grab it and put it up so baby sister doesn't try for it.  :angel4:

Gee another GB'er leaves da city!!You, Favre, me, several coworkers when we all worked there!!

I used to live out by East town mall when  I was in college and on Imperial Lane(hard to find, its only about 5 blocks long) when I worked in GB!!  Think I sometimes drove coworkers nuts when I would put out the donation bucket trying to get momey so could go get some puppy chow for the animal shelter !!!

At least you didnt run into a problem finding a place you could keep your dogs!!

Moving is the pits! Here's hoping it goes as well as it can and you get settled fast. Your new place sounds like a doggie heaven!!

Teresa

I understand the craziness of the move. I feel like I've just recovered from our move in June, and we only moved across town! I think you will enjoy the area. I have a friend who grew up around there and loved it. The winters will definitely be a change!! Good luck with everything. Let us know when you start heading east.

Hey, I know Imperial Lane!  That is between us and Walmart, LOL.  We are in Bellevue near Home Depot (which maybe wasn't there when you were?).  Going to be a BIG switch for us.  Look out big city, here come the hicks....LOL.  Why did you move?

Sue!  It's been ages!  I'm sorry to hear about the craziness of the move, but you wouldn't happen to be coming through Lexington on your way would you?  If so I'd love to see you!  I'd love to meet da King Sol and Stinky Baby dog!  Cajsa and Gretchen would even be on their best behaviour.

Oh Poor King Sol!
Don't those humans know they should never try to part a king from his scepter, especially one made of yummy meaty bone?
Hugs to you and wish for a smooth move for you & your family.

Pssst...Patches here with Dottie and Judy...

Sol, be patient.  Soon you will be here on the East Coast.  Winter's are milder here and there isn't much snow.  You will love the beach!  And, best of all, you will not be too far from us!

Just saw your answer to me!!  I could not remember what thread I posted mine in!!  Duh!!

I moved from Imperial Lane when I got chance to move back to Wausau area, where my family was for years! I liked GB as far as living there, and really missed some things after I left!!  Actually I lived in GB 3 times!! The first time I was going to UWGB!!  finally graduated from college after way too many years of classes! Then moved back to Wausau while i was looking for a better job, and was able to drive air freight truck for my father!! Then lived their twice while working for the state.  Basically due to various job fun, layoffs, etc.

I am not sure there were ANY Home Depots anywhere when I left GB.  That was in 88!! Seem to recall though wasn't Bellevue where a small bank got robbed?  It sticks in my mind because I had been past that bank a bunch of times for some reason!!
I will say when we have gotten over that way for dog shows and other reasons I love to go to craft stores and used book stores over there!!   AND will never forget shopping at Not By Bread Alone!! Gad they had so many fantastic desserts there!!

I have to tell you when I was going to go there to school or else it was when I transferred back there from another city.  This guy made what he was sure was an insulting comment about GB. He said "It's just a small town city!!"  Can't remember if he thought Madison or Milwaukee was the center of the universe....but in his mind GB was too small.  Apparently he didn't like small cities with friendly people, but would rather live in very large cities. where "nobody knows your name!!"  But the really big cities sort of scare me.  Being not the most mobile person, better than I used to be....I don't think I could get mugged by a toddler anymore.(that was a quote I used when it looked like I would have to move to either Madison or Milwaukee!!...)...if I had to move to one of the larger cities I would take GB over Madison any day!!
