Hello from Oklahoma

HI!  My husband and I are just crazy about our dachshunds, so I thought it would be fun to be part of a doxie message board!  My love for doxies started in college when, sadly, my husband's (boyfriend at the time) had to have his double dapple put to sleep.  He wanted another dachshund, but I tried in vain to come up with another type of dog to get.  I thought doxies were goofy looking, and his double dapple had never liked me.  But, I went ahead and got him a red dachshund, Baxter, who's about to be 5.  Less than a year later I was ready for a doxie of my own.  Baxter had stolen my !!   So, we got a red piebald, Birkley, almost 4.  A year later we added Beemer a silver dapple to the group.  A year after that, a long haired black and tan, Bayliss.

We don't have kids yet, so of course we treat our doxies like kids, like I'm sure most of you do!  In July we did add one more dog to the mix a boxer, named Conrad.  So if you've ever seen the Disney movie, The Ugly Dachshund, that's our house!  The boxer LOVES the dachshunds, but I think some how the dachshunds know he's not one of them.  It is funny to see a 45 pound boxer get bossed around by a 17 pound dachshund -- Baxter is THE alpha dog!

So, that's my story, in short.  I'll be sure to put more pics in my gallery!  I look forward to being a part of the board!

Sounds like you have quite the pack! I can't wait to see pictures!

My husband and I are owned by Penny a 3 year old red smooth tweenie! We are in the same boat - No kids, just Penny and her brother Tucker the cat. They are my babies!

Hi!  What part of Oklahoma are you from? My husband and I live in Broken Arrow with our 2 dachsies - Berman (2 1/2 year old smooth black & tan) and Lucy (9 month old smooth red).  We've had Beman since he was a puppy.  We adopted Lucy, a rescue, after we had to have our other girl, Annie, put to sleep in August.

This board is the best!  The people here are so kind and compassionate.  Having Annie put to sleep was the hardest thing we've ever had to do and if weren't for the people on this board, I'm not sure how we would have made it. 

We don't have kids either...except our dachsies!

Can't wait to see pictures of your crew!

Welcome!  Sounds like you have a houseful!  I am owned by three dachsies....our long haired black and tan gir, Buelah, and two smooth red boys, Oscy and Toby.  All of mine are under three years!  This is a great place to talk about your babies!  Can't wait to see pictures!
