I've been so out of the loop lately here.  Just been a busy month.  Kirby is doing much better thanks for asking.  I've figured out there is a definate pattern to his weight loss.  He always gets an upset stomach on Mondays.  And I think it is because we usually spend the weekend at my boyfriends house and there is no crate there.  So mondays he comes back and freaks out and gets diarreha.   I'm planning to get another crate for him for Dave's house.
A friend of mine had some purina fortiflora samples, so I called the vet and she gave me the ok.  Since he's been on the fortiflora he's been much better.  Gained a little weight, but still has a little to go.  Definately looks a ton better though.

The question I would ask is does he really need a crate?

Then again, I have a doggie door and big fenced back yard sooo.....my crew can let themselves out when they gotta go.

Im guessing, when Kirby is at the boyfriends house with no crate he feels "free", when he gets back home he gets the crate and feels "punished".

My Simon never did good with a crate, he hated it with a passion.

I agree with that.  Kirby never had a crate, now we have this houseshare with a girl who crates her dogs and it's kind of a requirement now because her mom owns the house we live in.  He's getting better though.  It's onlyl been a month. He goes in there happily when  it's time to eat.  Doesn't bark, just seems to burn a lot of calories.  I tend to feed him a little more on the weekends.   And I'm almost sure my boyfriend and his roommate are giving him either treats or food on the side.
