I know it was supposed to happen in the last week or so and wondered if you had gotten everything up there yet. If so, I'm sure you are thrilled-not only to finally be in the new house, but to have the extra stuff out of the other house. Can't wait to see the latest pictures.

We went up this week-end to do the last walk through. All that is to do the paint touch ups and to push the earth back up to the bricks. It was so cold up at my mums as she has been in the UK for two weeks, so the house was cold.

here are some photos

How lovely. I think you are entering or else in the middle of winter there. Will it be hard to get grass to come up? I see dirt and think of nice muddy paws! I love all the wide open spaces, both inside and outside.

Due to bush fires we are going to shale or pebbles along the in front of the house and the car area  so we could drive something along the front. Grass does grow quite well but it takes a lot of water in the summer to keep it green. We are in the middleof winter, the wind up there comes of the mountains brrrrrrrrrrr even thinking about it. My mothers house does not have much insulation. Their paws are at least ssmaller than the workmens, the poor girls had cleaned all the floors and the workmen came in again. they have now done the final clean of the carpeted rooms and closed them off, and also put a sign TAKE YOUR SHOES OFF...................PLEASE on the door

It is so near to a reality, Nick put in his stalliete poles and I picked up all the bits of metal to save the lawn mower, and Jane showed us how to turn of the electric fence! so we don't get a buss out of life. We have to get the reverse air guy to come up and demostrate how to use the units..fast.

Karen out here the posts are on metal  stirrups and its to stop rot etc

The guys are getting better the first times we let them out they wanted to bolt into the bush but now they are content to sniff around, not that they will ever be out alone.

Leslie its not the spiders but the snakes that worry me, but we have not seen any, my sisters horses may keep them away, and an old guys said some areas have them some don't, I'm praying for the later.

 update our occupany permit came through yesterday, and the bank said they will be OK for us to do handover on the 25th. We went and looked a how to put in a  doggy door in a slider, you can buy them but at a whapping $400, and came up with a design of our own. We also got prices for pickets etc for their out door area.

Wonderful! Now the hard work begins! I've seen the doggie door for sliding doors here for around 170.00 but then you would have to pay shipping. Also, I guess it would depend on the size of the door. We were looking at them when we were house-hunting since we saw several houses that would need them. Have a great week doing all the last minute things.

Wow, how the prices have gone up for the sliding door inserts with the doggie door at the bottom.  I guess I'll hang onto mine like it's gold-plated, then.  I got it back in 1987, and spent a whopping $106 and change for mine.  It was $99 plus tax.  Mine is an Ideal insert, and I have even replaced the flap, and have a spare.  I also had one put into the wall of the dining room, and I think it was $69 plus tax, about 10 years ago, and I have a spare flap for that one, too - not that the dachsies are rough on them, or anything!

Roberta, you must be so excited!  The views are lovely and your home is great.  What kind of benchtops do you have in your bathroom(s)?

This is great news and I LOVE seeing pictures, it has been so fun watching this all come along. I get all excited and have to remind myself we won't be the ones living there LOL. It is going to be wonderful once you are in and enjoying it with all the hard work behind. I can picture you and your 2 helpers on the floor making quilts! And enjoying the gorgeous view.

I had no idea either that kind of doggie door was so much. I'm not surprised you and Nick came up with your own design though can't wait to see! Really happy for you guys.

Julia the kitchen and the bathrooms have rolled edge laminex. I have never liked marble, as most things don't bounce on it and it absorbs spills eg nail polish(not that I use it) and beetroot and red wine which I do use. I figure with laminex if you get sick of it in 5 years you just redo it.  The Laminex is dark Cherry and the tiles on top of the bath hob have  a dark strip. We both like fairly contemporary styles. Our ensuite here is black and white as you can add anything to it.

Dee Dee I'm the handy person, Nick is similar to Frank Spencer in "some mothers do have them", hopeless at anything that needs nailed or glued etc.

The dog door that was cheaper was one made of plastic for $120 but as you say postage at $80 sort of makes it dear. Nicks idea was to make it out of cardboard..................yes dear and we know who JUST loves to rip cardboard............the confetti kid............  Oliver. So we have thought of thin plastic coated particle board just a bit wider than we need and put a dog door at tthe bottom. Or buy some clear perspex and just cut a hole out the bottom and have mini fly strips on the bottom.

ww changed the basins as they were meant to be those ones that sit on top of the bench and as the original had only room for the basin we increased the width to the max the area could take. Lord know where they meant you to store anything.
