On Friday afternoon, a special red, white and blue USPS armored car, sent by Franky and Delilah, pulled up and after the S.W.A.T. team made sure the coast was clear, the mailman in full body armor got out and delivered a sealed envelope.  Inside was a guard dachshund with a hermetically sealed pink packet containing a Louisiana quarter!  Thanks Special Agents F & D for your hard work!

The latest list of the quarters missing are:

I need to dig my collection back out - I did good for a while, but have gotten behind.  I will make an effort to keep a look out for the ones you need !

This could be fun. I'm assuming they are all in circulation now. I'll look and see what we have around here. Randy has a huge can of silver that he is filling up. I'll see what quarters are in there.

Ummm, aren't there multiple mints for each state, i.e.: Denver, Philly and San Francisco?  If so, do you care which mint?

Oklahoma and New Mexico are the new ones so far this year. Arizona, Alaska and Hawaii have yet to be released, but will be over the next 30 weeks. At least now I know not to be looking for those last three yet! I'll start looking for the others. So far today I've found 3 New York ones and 1 South Carolina, but that was just in the change I had in my purse or received in the drive through when I got lunch. I haven't looked at home yet.

Karen, Did you ever get any of these. I found a lot of quarters under furniture, the washer and dryer, etc when moving and have now copied down the list. I thought I'd see if I needed to delete any before I looked through them.

I was just looking at this, and guess what I have right in front of me??  Oklahoma!!  Yep, so if you still need this one, let me know...   I am not worried about you reimbursing me for it or the postage..   I tried to collect one of each for all 4 of my children when they first started them, but decided against it...  Too big of a pain in the *** to try to get 4 of each at all times...   So, I will set this one to the side for now and wait to hear from you Karen...       :xfinger:

Iowa has shown up but the rest of the list is still missing.  It doesn't matter which mint.  Any quarter is appreciated.

I've never heard of the ar-KAN-sas river.  But then I live in Illy-noiz...

My ex-husband, who is a Jayhawker (native-born Kansan) told me that years ago.  At least in Kansas, they say Ar-KAN-sas River.

Maybe the people of Arkansas pronounce it the same as the state.  Where did that pronunciation come from, anyway?

Well, we have the Shih-kaaaa-go politicos who are quite noizy, but I've noticed that's a character trait of that particular breed.  But many ill people are noisy...
Not to confuse things, but we have the towns of Des Plaines (dezz planes) and then there's Des Moines (deh moyn).  No wonder my Alsatian cousins are confused when they visit.

And doofuses who say Illy-noiz and live here should be whipped....

It's from a tribe of Indians, known as the Quapaw, and it means "downstream people".  I know quite a few people in Arkansas, and the river and the state are the same pronunciation.   Btw, I'm from Missouri, and we natives whose families have been there more than a decade, usually say "Mizzou-rah", while others say "Mizzou-ree".  It's also Saint Louis, rather than "Sant Louis".  Please keep updating your list, Karen!  Now that I am back home and cleaning out and cleaning up things, I have found my quarter stash again.

I'm trying to finish my quarter collection the old fashioned way - one quarter at a time.

But I'm getting frustrated trying to finish off the collection.  Then I thought lots of you live all over the United States and maybe we could all obsess over coins instead of this week's crisis - whatever IT is!!

If you come across any of the state quarters listed, just PM me and I'll e-mail my snail mail address.  I promise to send you a bonafidee cheque for 67/100ths of a dollar to pay for replacing your quarter and cover your postage.

Here's the list of the Missing in Action:

Alabama - Paddle faster, I hear banjo music!
Alaska - Does the US Mint know where Wasilla is?  LOL!
Arizona - close to Santee, California!
Arkansas   FOUND - THANKS TARA AND EMMYLOU!
Hawai'i - do puppers need a visa to visit?  Are there any there?
Iowa - a shoe-in!
Louisiana  - Cajun, crawdad quarters?
Maine - Coover Country!
Michigan - Does U.P. have its own version?
Mississippi
New Mexico - "¡La Migra!"FOUND!
OOOOOOk-lahoma - where the wind comes sweepin' down the plain. . . FOUND - THANKS TARA AND EMMYLOU!

This could be a lot of fun!  Thanks in advance for all your help!

Karen
