Doxie DooDad mentioned in the NDR section about sending out a twilight bark (from 101 Dalmations) for Karen. He was concerned since she has had some health problems in the past and we haven't seen her in a few days. It has now been 5 days without a post from Karen. Does anyone have her number or a way to get in touch with her. That is really a long time for her to go without checking in. I know a lot of people don't scroll down to the other sections, so I thought I would mention it here, too.

Karen and the herd are doing fine.  I just got through talking with her on the phone and she told me her computer got sick and had to go to the repair shop.  She should get it back tomorrow, and be back on line in a day or two.

She and the herd are going through WW withdrawal, but know all will be well when she gets her computer back.  She appreciates all the concern we have had. Nothing like our WW family.

Thank you, Darcel. I thought it might possibly be a sick computer, mainly because last time she made sure to get in touch with tried so hard to get in touch with one of us and then we all made sure she had last names so she could find us if she needed again. It'll be good to have her back again soon. Can't believe her Mac was giving trouble. She hasn't had this one very long.

Great Job WW crew!
A Mac malfunction! For all that money and snooty-ness, they should be ashamed.  I'm a PC at home, Mac at the office guy.  Maybe Karen should get a backup PC when her apple has a tantrum.  HaHa
Nice detective work Darcel
I am also missing a pair of reading glasses . . . .

Ahem!

I am replying to Dear Darling Darcel who called to make sure I hadn't fallen into the lava flow trying to retrieve my MacBook Pro.

Thank you for asking DDD, but all repairs to my MacBook Pro were completely covered under warranty.  So while it did take from Monday afternoon until Saturday morning to repair, it is working beautifully, all the techs were pleasant and completely helpful, and it didn't cost a penny!

As for ranting DoxieDooDad, it was indeed one of the fans that died - but not a defective part.  You could consider it a design flaw.  By picking up my laptop with one hand positioned with my right thumb directly over the DVD slot, the bulk of the laptop weight then pressed down on the fan located in that general area.  So I have learned a valuable lesson on how to handle my MacBook Pro in the future,  It appears that dropping it only put a slight dent in the titanium housing just below the DVD slot, but did not affect the performance.

My laptop died a couple weeks ago and I went looking for a replacement.  This time I vowed to  get a Mac, but at the store(couldn't get to the Apple Store) no one would wait on me in the Mac Dept and when I finally found a rep they told  me that if I had never used a Mac before to forget it and get a PC.  So I got another PC.  But next time it will be a Mac.

What a  :cussing: way to get treated.  My nephew, who lives in Grand Rapids, is computer literate (he works for Myers in their IT dept.), and used to work for Comp USA.  So when you get ready to purchase a new computer, in the not so near future, let me know and I will ask his advise on a good place to purchase one.

WHY WOULD SOMEONE SAY THAT????!!!!?!?!? :BangHead:  I had Windows on a PC for years.  Then the husband of an old friend who worked for Apple in Cupertino gave me his old laptop to use.  WOW!!  So simple, so basic, so well-written.

PCs are not the problem - Microsoft's software is.  In fact, Microsoft's newest version, Vista, runs better on a Mac than on a PC!

Point in fact - I bought a new Hewlitt Packard printer.  The installation instructions had 16 steps to install on Windows.  It had one step to install on Mac: "Insert software disc.  When finished, eject disc."

'nough said!
