Brekke and I are going to attempt spending the first night in my house since the man I married was arrested for threats with intent to terrorize.  We have been living with Brekke's niece, Mocha, and her mom, Brenda.  I thought I would start with tonight and see how it goes before we attempt any longer stays.  I had the wooden kitchen door replaced with a metal one that has interior blinds in the upper half, and the fire door between the garage and utility room has been replaced, because the man kicked it in, twice, when he couldn't remember where the hidden key was.  Thursday, I hired back my former gardener, and he had a 4-man crew here for about 6 hours.  They mowed, edged, trimmed, weeded, sprayed, and dug up two sprinkler heads that were leaking, and cleaned out all the other sprinkler heads so they flow properly.  Now Brekke can be in her back yard when she wants to be - not because the man made her live outside in a doghouse.  My four-year marriage could be a Lifetime movie - sad, but true!  Anyhow, this is another baby step to getting my life back.

I pray you had a good, restful night. What a huge step this is. I'm proud of you for wanting to return to your home and reclaim it. If you find you really can't do it, at least you will know you gave it your best shot. I'm looking forward to hearing it was a great night!

It did go well.  Brekke slept in her dogbed beside my bed, and I slept very well, although about an hour short - she had to get up and go potty.  I am not letting her use the doggie door yet, because I want to supervise.  (She does tend to bark overly at the neighbor dogs on both sides  :dontknow:)  She doesn't seem to like the new brand of dog biscuits, so I had better find the usual ones today... here's the new look - pink is a real different thing for me - that's why I picked it!

I'm glad it went so well. I love the pink, especially the quilt. I have a feeling when we move that we will have the same problem with Schatzi barking at the neighbor's dog. With the privacy fence and the hedge, she won't be able to see him, but that may make it even worse!
Are you hanging out at the house during the day today? If so, enjoy it. I'm sure Brekke will enjoy finding all the new scents in her backyard.

That is great that you were able to enjoy your night at home!!  I'm so happy for you and proud of you for taking that HUGE step.   :apls:  You are certainly more brave than I think I would be in that situation.   I hope you are able to make so many happy memories there with your Brekke that it will ease the painful memories of your past.   I'm so happy things are starting to get better for both of you.  I will be praying that things keep looking up for you and Brekke.

I'm so sorry he had to be the jerk that he is! You deserve so much better. But...life is getting back to normal for you and Brekke and this BIG step is definitely in the right direction. As has been said by others here...I'm not sure I would be as brave as you've been.

Way To Go.  :apls:  As hard as that was, you can now pat yourself on the back.  Kudo's for you and Brekke of course.  I am happy for you that you got your house back.  Do keep us posted how things progress.

Good gosh girl! You have some moxie, we are very proud of you! I wish we could build up all around you and form a barricade. I think I'm about as angry at him as you are. It's good to know you are both back in your own home and I am sure there is a LOT of stories you could tell about these 4 years that we can't even dream of...glad you and Brekke are both on the other side. Good for you!

I just read this post Julia and wanted to tell you that you are amazingly courageous.  I cannot imagine what you have gone through but to go back and take charge of your life makes you a truly remarkable woman.  God bless you and know that there are a bunch of dachsiholics out there wishing you well and praying that your life is filled with peace from now on.   I also love the quilt!

Thanks, everyone!  I would like to say that we are not back home full time, yet.  I am waiting for the new deadbolt on the new door between the house and garage first, and then we'll be in.  I wish I could say that I made the quilt, but it is from the Simply Shabby Chic line at Target -and I have had a ball choosing a bunch of things for my do-over.  I got new curtains, a matching wastebasket, several little storage baskets like the one on the bed, hanging 10-pair shoe rack and hanging 6-sweater bin that matches, a matching bedside rug, some storage bins for the closet, in which I'll keep purses, and even matching tissue paper and post-it notes!  There are styles in pink, purple, blue, and green - search the online stuff!  I even have matching lamps if you look closely!   I hear from Rebecca that Rachel is coming out with pet accessories and beds, too!  Oh, and there is furniture, - just google "Rachel Ashwell" - enjoy!

Way to go!!  You have the strength of a dachshund for everything you've been through.  Continued rays from us so that you can put this all behind you.
PS I LOVE the shabby chic line from Target, too   :thumb:

It's gonna be great when Brekke's stuff can match yours!
I love the Shabby Chic stuff. I have a couple of things in Meg's room and plan to add to it once we move. Once she goes back to grad school in the fall and isn't home as much, I will probably enjoy putting some accents in there. A lot of her things will go to decorate her space at school.

Patches here maybe you need a big brother like I got he is a Doberman his name is Buddy all he does is give people the look he don't even bark at nobody he just looks at them. I have to do all the barking around here Momma says I would protect her more than my big brother would but I do not know that look can be scary.

You know, a dobie may be a good idea!  Aside from the success of Patches and Buddy, there's a pair on www.youtube.com named Ramsey (the Doberman) and Pablo (the chihuahua)!  The person's cwdressen.

My daughter (the oldest, wouldn't you know!) always wanted to have two dobermans and name them Adolph and Benito!  And this is an orthodox Jewish girl!!!   LOL!! :2funny:

Sounds like the jerk kicked Brekke if you had a Doberman would not happen but a pup is allot of hard work their are allot of Dobermans in rescue one of them may be ideal for you if you hunt for the right one? You might feel safer anyway hope all is gong well for you and Brekke now.
