I didn't know that there was one in the Midwest until I turned on the internet this morning! Kelly in Northern Illinois!

I was blissfully asleep floating on my waterbed.  Even Clifford's 14.5 lbs send create waves, so I wouldn't know the difference.  Kelly is about 50 miles west of me and maybe 15 miles north, so our experience would be similar with the quake being centered down by St. Louie.

My two girls woke up and my oldest told me there was and earthquake.  I told her it was 4 am and she probably had one of those dreams where you feel movement or one of those falling dreams.  Then my youngest boy came and knocked on our door and said that his bed was moving and i told him to just go back to sleep and i thought he had heard the girls talking.  the dogs were barking and i thought that they were barking at the commotion in the house. by 5 everyone was back in bed and quiet.  when my radio alarm clock went off at 5:30 i heard all of the news about the quake.  Here i am telling the kids that they are dreaming but the beds had actually been shaking!!!!  I did have to apologize to the kids (the ones that actually woke up, two slept through it all) this morning for not believing them.  We are just south of St Louis.  p.s. Husband slept through it too.

The Earthquake was felt here in Cincinnati but hubby and I slept right through it this morning.  Heaven forbit if someone tries to break into our house   Then to top it all off, I just talked to my mom who said at 11:15am we had an "after-shock"...well, didn't feel that either!!

Hope everyone in Illinois is okay and didn't have anything broken!!!

Kelly here: I want to add something now that I realize about the earthquake;yesterday while I was playing on the computer I felt the floor underneath the computer chair start to vibrate and I asked my mom what was in the washing machine and then it dawned on me;the computer is in the family room that is not above the basement. I was awake at 4:00 I'm suprised I didn't feel it. Have a good week-end everybody. :thumb:

Brekkesmom

My mom in St.Charles, MO, said it awakened her this morning!  She thought at first that it was really getting windy - like a tornado, but then she heard a few sounds like Mandy the Poodle-Angel's footsteps, and realized what it truly was.  That one was on the fault line that joins the New Madrid Fault (the one that made the Mississippi River run backwards for 3 days in 1812, and created Reelfoot Lake in Kentucky - lest you think only Californians usually have all the earthquake thrills)!  In 1959 or 1960, there was a quake one Sunday morning - we were in church - and the chain lamps began to swing!  The brick walls looked like they were breathing.  That quake did some interesting things - my little girl china set that matched Mom's, was in an open cabinet above the stereo cabinet.  My lid on the little vegetable dish fell out and broke, but not the dish, or the little platter behind it.
