Looks like a lot of coastal areas are getting hit hard.

Well, yes - Brenda's fence is down in 5 sections!  We have a temporary fix tonight, but the real repair is due tomorrow at 7:30 (yikes!) a.m.  My fence is still jimmied up from the last big wind (August, I think), when three sections of mine leaned way over.  We had some severe dust and wind around here today, although I never heard how fast.  I saw trees and fences down in many places.  The girls - sheltie, shih tzu, and our 2 dachsies - Brekke and Mocha (Brekke's niece) could have made a great escape, but we were here.  I was replacing a bad board out of 4, or I would not have noticed the three sections!  Luckily, I had a stack of the fence boards in the garage...

I didn't know you guys were getting winds too! We're also having a big wind storm right now, most of today and supposed to last until morning. Several around me have power out but I don't lose power too easily where we are thank goodness. I have my fence still braced up from the last wind storm too, until I can have the whole thing replaced in the spring...I am glad the doggers did not get out of Brenda's yard! I don't even want to think about that...

You guys be careful and stay safe, is it raining there also and is it warm? It's about 46ish here which feels warm, I love dark stormy skies and lots of wind as long as nothing gets damaged and no one gets hurt. I took Hallie for a run at the park in it and she was so frisky, her flexi was bowed out in a big arc from the wind.

I didn't watch the news last night but Hubby said there were pictures of a big snow storm in California with at least 5" of snow with more to come and lots of winds.  Everyone, please stay safe and stay inside......

Sat early afternoon, 1/5/08:  Okay just heard on the Weather Channel about 44" of snow possible in the Sierra Nevada Mountains...oh my gosh....and all the rain rain rain in Southern California....now they are talking about the threat of landslides....and winds in California of up to 92 mph in some areas and 80's in others!!!

PLEASE, PLEASE STAY SAFE....AND KEEP US UPDATED ON HOW YOU ARE ALL DOING!!

Our winds were only 43 m.p.h. according to the weather, but you could have fooled me!  Trees toppling?  Anyway, this morning, we have next to no wind, and I don't know if it will make it up to 56 today, because we had a cold front come through last night.  We are still waiting for the fence repair team - maybe others had fences down between here and there.  We are down in the San Joaquin Valley, so we hardly ever get snow.  I have only seen it snow 4 times since I moved here in 1982.  Once (I think it was back in 1995), we even had a snow day and the Weather Channel featured us as an unusual place to get snow that stayed on the ground - we had 3"!

Hello all!  Thanks for thinking of us Californians.  Big winds and lots of rain last evening, throughout the night, tapering off this morning only to pick up again just a bit ago.  We lost power in our neighborhood-including my workplace at about 4:50 pm yesterday.  Boss told me to go home.  Mark was waiting to pick me up.  We rounded up all the meager candles we had and just sat on the couch smooching on the pampered, spoilt rotten weinerdog.  Even THAT got old after awhile, so we all went to bed early.  Power was restored around midnight.  When I took the Madders out (on rainy days, we take her under the carport), the wind really blew fiercely. It was SCARY!  Then we had "lightning"....except that it wasn't.  I think a transformer blew somewhere.  Anyway, a good day to STAY INSIDE snuggled with a pampered pooch.

Yikes, Sandi.  I am so glad I live up here in the land of ice and snow where the weather is mild.  We are wondering if we are ever going to get any snow around here.  By the way, around midnight last night we had some pretty amazing Northern Lights!  I never get tired of seeing them.

We only got some rain out of this one, so we're not complaining, because the resorts need snow - and that's what they get instead.

Sadly, the repair guys didn't show up yesterday, but happily, the fence jerry-rigging is holding.

Hey, a Canadian!  Hello.  I am in Alaska, and we Alaskans feel so very close to our Canadian neighbors.  We, too, may have the frigid temps this time of year, but our summers more than make up for it, and we don't get all that extreme stuff the lower 48 gets either.   And yet, they think Alaska is so harsh weather-wise.  We are mild compared to a lot of places.  We don't get the heat, flooding, hurricanes or tornadoes.

I'm visiting in Brentwood, just north of Santa Monica.  Friday we got rain, rain, rain but we're o.k.  The Herd is back in Baltimore, and they're doing o.k. with Auntie Ann in charge.

Right now I'm hanging out at the Apple store in Santa Monica.  They have free workshops on different Apple products and I am in Macintosh heaven!

I have a husband who would be quite envious of you right now! He loves any of the Apple products. We are supposed to get an Apple store here late this year or early next year. I have a feeling that is where he will spend a lot of his spare time.

The best part of the Apple stores is their workshops.  They offer them here in Santa Monica all day long.  I just sit in and listen, while I'm plugged in and checking my e-mail.  The workshops and the phenomenal help from the staff makes paying more up front all worth while.
