We decided to switch Berman from Science Diet to Wellness.  Lucy came with a 1/2 bag of Nutro so we are switching her to Wellness too.  I'm giving them about 1/2 old food and 1/2 new food and have been doing so for about a week.

What I'm noticing since this switch is that they go to the bathroom a lot!  I don't mean frequency, I mean quantity. Berman is pooping over twice as much as he did before. Is this normal when switching food or is this normal for dogs who eat Wellness?  Does this sound like a medical problem or is a lot of poop okay?

I have seen comparison charts that show there is more waste with the wellness vs. the nutro so it is normal.

Seems odd to me, especially since Wellness is a better food.  Most of the time the lower the quality, the more poop.  Maybe they're just not responding to the food that well, or it is just going to happen during this switch.

My old border collie had sensitivities as well and tended to do this on Natural Balance.  Now that I think about it, it was with wellness too.  She ended up doing the best on Nutro.  My Kelpie doesn't react to anything, you could feed her bark and styrofoam and she wouldn't react.  Lol.  Buddha seems to be the same way, she's pretty much got an iron gut.  Probably a good thing considering she is a food hound and has never said no to anything offered (or not offered).  She stayed with my mom for a week, I sent dog food but the first night Buddha wouldn't eat (understandable - she was stressed).  So my mom fed her HOT DOGS for dinner!  She got yelled at for that, lol.

I use Wellness for one of my fosters because she has allergies. I switched everyone else because of the excessive poops. I thought better food meant smaller stools so I am not sure what the deal is. I have been using Merrick's with good results. I also use California Natural for another foster with allergies and his poops are bigger:( I guess I wasn't much help.
